Hi all, I am interested in looking at investing in New Zealand but can’t seem to find the best web site to search. Any Suggestions ? Also are there any suggestions as to an area/town etc to look at.

    Thanks

Think we need to get a moderator to move this one down to the NZ forum.

Can’t tell you where is the best place as that is subjective and depends a lot on your financial situation.

Can suggest this page for an eclectic range of links

    Hi,

You might like to try http://www.stuff.co.nz/. Has a link to local newspapers which can be an important resource.

    trademe.co.nz

is also quite good for private sales, with a word of warning! there are a lot of people FLIPPING properties on trade-me…who won’t disclose it upfront. (which makes it dodgy in my opinion.)

Nothing wrong with a flip per se, but sucks if you get down to checking the certificate of title and finding out the person ‘selling’ you the deal is not the person on the title!

There was a quite good Tokoroa deal on there that I was trying to get for 45k, bit rough, but liveable to long term tenant (asking price 53k) it went for 53, silly me, I should have just grabbed it for 53, it was rented for 120 a week and was about 30 seconds walk from town. Doh!

But then again it is also worth saying that there are a LOT of tyre kickers on trade-me. Believe me, it is NOT worth the grief! List it with an agent and leverage your time!

Minimogul you sound like you have a handle on the NZ game.
I have found nothing helps more than living there.

There are only 2 websites in New Zealand selling only investment property. hotpropertynz.com and richmastery.com Other than that realenz.co.nz is the main agents web site. I’ve bought Three Million dollars worth of property in NZ in the last 6 months and most of it I’ve found on hotproperty or realenz. The search capability of realenz is great but you have to have some idea of rental levels in an area. The other 2 sites do all the work for you. I’m investing full time and happy to help anyone who emails me. [email protected]

    Hi,

We have just finished our redevelopment of http://www.privatesale.co.nz and have experienced a huge increase in listings and visitors as our online marketing efforts have attracted NZ Private buyers and sellers.(have a search in google for “private sale” “private sales nz” etc .. we are highly visible)

I would invite you to look at what we have to offer and any comments/feedback on our site/product offering would be welcomed.

    Thanks

    Dean

Scotty, type in Real Estate New Zealand and your search engine will find everything there is. However, it is important to ring the local Real Estate agent as most of the good stuff has been sold before it gets on the web site.

    Hi Aptam

In answer to your question: YES.

Posted same question on PT and replies were all the same. Everyone is apparently having trouble accessing realenz this weekend.

For any of you Forumites from Sydney who frequent the Propertytalk.co.nz website, Marc from PT says he is coming to Sydney in May and is interested to meet at a pub one evening. Could be interesting for a chat.

What are you after Cash flow or Growth?
I live in Auckland which has reducing yields but in the right areas great growth. There are still some suburbas which offer yields from 7% up but the growth over 10 year is low except for the last 2 years when there has been a big Spurt.
Have been offered a 2 bedroomed unit with a current rent of $215 per week but upgraded would possibley bring in $230.00 per week.
ASking price done up $165,000 or $145,000 as is.
Does that sort of thing appeal or are you after a bigger price tag? Example 2 bedroomed block of 4.
Rental $1000.00 per week and price tag about $670,000.
Let me know if interested or if you want to know about any deals as there are FEW companies offering ‘find you a property’ service.
What sort of ownership structure do you have?
    Trust, LAQC, PErsonal?
