All Topics / Opinionated! / The ‘fight club’ thread?
Hi guys. This might crack you up, but I was wondering what you thought of a ‘fight club’ thread, where if people have nasty things to say to each other, it can all go in there? (kind of like a ‘behind the gym’ are where all the kiddies can go and beat each other up there, and if the rest of us don’t want to read it, we just stay out?)
I have been reading the threads for a while, and have noticed of late that quite a few people are getting annoyed with each other and ruining posts – leading them to be locked. I like to find out everyones thoughts on subjects, not how people can rip each other to shreds?
I love this site and come here daily, but it’s becoming a ‘who’s better than who’ area to beat each other up![confused2]

them are fighting words timtam…ill have ya!!!!
Might be an intermediate solution, as long as the moderators have the power to just automatically send fighting posters replies to the fighting forum.
Automation!
Think you have a point about them ruining the posts, though!

What is the benefit of having anything nasty tolerated at all?

hey guys, I totally agree about there should be no nastiness or rudeness… but there is, and it’s coming out in all the posts.
I’m thinking that if people just HAVE to be nasty or to get something off their chest, go elsewhere…. set up a corner where they can play imature kiddies and leave others to talk descently to each other.

Sounds like a new political party being born? The ‘PEOPLE WHO HATE PEOPLE PARTY!’ I think you’d find you’d have trouble trying to get it up an running off the boards. Just picture it;
“People who hate people, come together?”
“No!”
“But you’re our strongest member?”
“F#@K YOU!
“That’s what I’m talking about!”
“Are you gonna be there?”
“No!”
“Then I’m not going anyway!”

Cheers,
Gatsby! The People Who Hate People Party? LOL. You crack me up!
You wanna moderate that forum Mr. Gatsby?

I certainly would give it a go Steve.
As great as that idea sounds, I disagree with it.
I think the site is handling most the conflict quite well, however I must say some may get out of hand.
We are all individuals, with each having different ways to express themselves or put their point across, even when it is wrong at times.

I think you’re missing the point Wayne. I wasn’t picking on you … I was saying that I’m sick of reading people getting nasty to one another. Don’t read so much into things… it wasn’t aimed at you.
I think you’ve just proved my point anyway.. thanks.

WHY WHY WHY should the owners of the discussion board put up with nasty posts.
Do not put them in their own corner – just do not allow them.
After all, the purpose of the board is to exchange information and learn, not exchange verbal hits.
I think the current method of locking up discussions that have escalated beyond the bounds of “niceness”.
GIDDOSteve,
Maybe your website could have a ‘propertyinvesting.com(EDY) forum? I’d gladly be the moderator on that forum. At least I’d feel I have expertise in that area (although I’m sure others may choose to differ? There we go! The party line has just commenced!).
Cheers,

Was I being nasty? It’s OK for Timtam to insult people of temeperament, but it’s not OK for wayneL to point out irony?
BTW I did not think it was directed at me.
But some of the greatest things I’ve learnt on this and other forums has come from “robust” debate. In these exchanges it sometimes gets heated. Thats human nature unfortunatly.
For instance, I am challenging your views on this. I have that right. I have not called anyone names or intentionally insulted.
Quite rightly, you have the right to counter with your own argument. Will the debate get “robust” or turn into a “fight thread”? I don’t know, it’s up to interpretation.
Many of the forumites here who say similar views to you have been some of the most passionate debaters on this board.
My point is that many peoples views are held passionately and defended passionately.
I agree there is a line, which should not be crossed…like name calling and belittling…and being holier than though.Cheers
Here we go again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
