The last meeting was fantastic. Anna and me learnt a lot and are looking forward to the next meeting. I’m not sure how the last meeting at La Porcetta’s was, but my history with meeting like this one is that it is difficult to have a guest speaker present at a restaurant. I would also bear in mind that there would be about 20-25 people attending, very difficult for everyone to hear and participate. Tony said that his office would possibly be available, otherwise I may be able to organise a room at my office, or maybe someone could volunteer their home?
We may want to also think of making it a regular date to ensure people are able to make their time available. During the week is usually not very good for me. Maybe people could list their availabilities so that this could be facilitated.
Just some suggestions from experience, I’ve had a few of these groups that I have participated in fall apart pretty quickly in the past.
I also note that we have a couple of people doing different things.
Gill organised things from the start and set up an email address.
Alvin organised a Yahoo group page
Alistair organised the speaker at the last meeting
Tony was trying to organise speakers for the next meeting
Leila and Adrian are now trying to organise a time for the next meeting.
This effort and enthusiasm is fantastic!!! Maybe we just need to ensure that someone is co-ordinating the group and not everyone going their own directions.
Not sure if anyone’s spoken to Tony yet, but suggest that maybe the date and time should be set around the availability of the guest speaker.
Please do not take this post in anyway but suggestions to ensure the best outcomes for this group. I will also be sending this out to everyone registered on the website as well!
Look forward to feedback and seeing you all at the next meeting.
The group is looking to meet on Sat 28 May at same venue as last time – 270 Auburn Rd, Hawthorn. Tony has organised a guest speaker on asset protection and different trust structures.
Alistair, Adrian, Tony, Gill,
Hope all is well with you and the other group members.
Are any arrangements underway for a future meeting? If you need help to organise, I’m happy to help – just PM or email me as I’m very infrequently on this forum.
I hope to catch up with all of you soon,
Hi Danny,
Thanks for arranging the next meeting and thanks to you and Tony for the guest speaker and again the offer of the venue.
Kind regards,
Gatsby!
Apologies for not attending today’s meeting. My family had a bit of a tragedy last Friday and I was unable to get to Hawthorn on time. If anyone who attended might be able to pm me or post what was generally covered it would be gratefully appreciate it. I hope all went well.
Kind regards,
Gatsby!
Just a quick update on how Saturday’s meeting went. It ended up being a quiet meeting (5 of us and the guest speaker), but there was some awesome discussion and great subject material in the area of asset protection.
Vaughan Carlin from Active Asset Protection was discussing some ways to both protect assets you currently own in your own name, as well as setting up a bulletproof structure to protect your future assets as well. I took down plenty of notes, and will look to put them into a word file or something, and email them to Alvin to put on the Yahoo page.
Mentioning the yahoo page, i think there may have been some confusion or miscommunication on the meeting, hence the low turn-out. This may be because not everyone’s on the Yahoo page, which i believe is to become the primary method of communication (correct me if i’m wrong Alvin). As such, we’re kinda half-way between two methods of communication.
Regardless, for those who couldn’t make it Saturday, Vauchan said he’d be happy to meet with us all again at a later meeting to discuss structuring and asset protection, and as I said, i’ll hopefully have a copy of my notes out there soon!
Hi all,
Just a reminder that we are meeting this Thursday evening (14th July) if I’m correct. I’ll contact Danny and update again. If anyone else is more up to speed on this than me, then please feel free to post.
Cheers,
Gatsby.

HI
I have tried emailing the person that is supposed to be running this group a couple of times and have yet to get a response on where the group meets, dates and times.
Maybe they don’t want more people to attend.
Yes we are still on for this Thursday night 14th at 7.00pm at 270 Auburn Rd, Hawthorn. (Jules, I know Craig’s email is playing up so maybe that was the problem).
Anyway, all are welcome and the speakers organised will discuss residential, commercial, construction finance as well as mezzanine finance. (Speaker is from IMB Commercial).
All welcome, please reply to this post if you are attending to confirm numbers.
Firstly, many thanks Tony for organising Mike to present tonight, as well as your talk. Danny, thanks for the pm to all for arranging time to meet, etc. Alistair, thanks mate for the US update scenario. Great to see a few more faces (or more likely the same ones and I’ve still forgotten your names!! SORRY!) and thanks for making the effort to come along. Picked up a few gems tonight (and maybe a new job soon?)and I look forward to meeting next month re: O/S (US) investing.
Kind regards,
Gatsby.

Thanks to all who attended on Thursday night. (Good effort to come out in the freezing weather!). I’m sure everyone was impressed with the wealth of knowledge being shared.
Stay tune for details of next one – most likely same venue in Hawthorn, approx mid August.
I can confirm the next meeting will be next Thursday 25th August at 7.00pm at 270 Auburn Rd, Hawthorn. Guest speakers will be discussing property investing in the U.S.
All are welcome (please rsvp to me or this post by Tuesday 23rd) including newcomers. Attendance is free.
