    G’day folks

    Hoping to utilise some general feedback: I’ve been thinking of setting us a Pty Ltd company and getting a Family Trust to go with it as a structure for some investments.

    I was wondering if anyone had tried an Aussie site I found: http://www.cleardocs.com ? They seem to charge only $937.50 anf $137.50 for the company and Trust, so I was wondering if anyone had given them a go – and if they’re any good? Looks a pretty handy service if it’s up to scratch?

    Look forward to your help [biggrin]

    Cheers

    Hi,

    Buying a shelf-entity can save a lot of time and money, but be sure to shop around as:

    * not all legal documents are the same.
    * the price is competitive

    In particular, if you have unique requirements then I’d suggest paying extra and getting something tailored.

    Regards,

    Steve McKnight

    P.S. If you’re interested, we use Shelcom in our office (they give free lollies that Dave quite likes). Their website is: http://www.shelcom.com.au/default.htm

    Hi Steve and Lucifer – thanks for the responses … although I find them a bit curious.

    I have used Shelcom, as well as many other ‘shelf company’ providers, and they’re just a bog-standard shelf company site. Same as all the rest. They don’t really allow you to do any ‘tailoring’ at all. To be honest, I’m pretty pissed-off paying $300 for a standard Discretionary Trust from these guys.

    I was interested in http://www.cleardocs.com because I looked through what they offer, and it seems to be genuinely different. The service is much more tailored, it’s all online, it’s quick. The documents are signed-off by a top-twenty law firm (Maddocks) – which is a bit more impressive than most shelf company services.

    PLUS, Shelcom and all the others charge about $200 more for the Company + Trust … and for that kind of money I want more than lollies! Sorry.

    After reading these responses, I read some other threads on this site from TerryW about http://www.cleardocs.com and he seemed pretty impressed. Has anyone else tried them?

    Hi Magicdan

    I have tried both http://www.lawcentral.com.au and clear docs for trust deeds. Clear docs is cheaper and the deed comes as a RTF file, so you can open it in word and modify the document. Lawcentral is a PDF file which is locked so that it cannot be copied or edited. I have no idea really how the content stacks up, but both seem to be fine to me.
