Well, Redwing, not really. Port is the more scenic but it is also very much over priced![cigar] Opinion divides……
I actually live in South, as I believe it is more affordable. As for the temperatures, yes, it is about time that we come out of this arctic climate! Brrr, 27 degrees is a little too cold! Bring on the mid 40’s![biggrin]
Only kidding! Thank goodness for Airconditioning!

    Cheers

Calvin is in a better position to clarify current state of play.

Just out of interest. Are you a fulltime investor or do you work as well. I’m just wondering how you can have found a remote place like this and spend so much time researching everything locally.
    Thanks.

I live in Karratha 225 km south of port hedland and i think the property market will continue to be strong here due to the diverse infrastructure and port facilities in Dampier. Whatch hedland prices drop with the uncertainty of the bhp brickette plant.

Bhp Billiton have agreed to buy back all employees houses – to stabilize the market. Any one able to (depending on their agreement) can sell on the open market, if they so chose.
Since the Care and Maintenance has started, this offer has been extended to those of us that have bought on the open market and were previously NOT eligible for the buy back sceme.

So, I don’t think that the market will plumet, but I expect it to go down a bit from where it is currently, if at all. The general Public knows this and only those desperate to get out of Town will “dump” thier homes as they may have made good CG in the previous value jump.

    Time will tell…..

What do you think of Roebourne. I think it is about 40KMS N of Karratha.

    Thanks

Roebourne is one of those towns you drive ‘through’ or wipe your feet on the way out..IMHO

If you were to buy here, caution would be the key!

Ring the local Police station for interests sake and get a perspective…

    Hi Spider,

Forget it – cashflow positive it maybe but if you are looking for an ‘investment’ you are better off placing money on number 4 in the fourth at Randwick this weekend.

BTW Roebourne is East of Karratha.

    Hi Spider,

My wife and I lived in Karratha for 6 years, which we enjoyed.

We passed through Roebourne many times on the way to Point Samson, Wickham and Port Hedland.

FYI…the pub in Roebourne has the tables and chairs bolted to the floor and they hose the pub out after closing time!

From memory there were a couple of well presented houses there.

    Cheers, Doug

    Hi
I know this is an old thread now – hope it’s OK to ressurect it!
Just wondering if any of the WA people in the Karratha/Roeourne area have the details for a good bird dog/property finder.
We have a cashflow positive duplex in Wickham which we are selling, and I would like to offer it for private sale through them.
    Cheers, Sarah

there’s a desperate shortgae of properties in that area, why not just list it with an agent up there? add the agents fees to the price you ask – am sure it would last about 5 minutes on the market.

Good idea – thank you. I may actually even get a better price that way.
