just wondering what conversion rate people use when accepting bartercard points on sale of property… If I said 2 points are only worth $1 cash would I be being too harsh on bartercard? I saw the discussion on contrabart which I understand is shaky, but I don’t think it got to the crux of what a bartercard point is really worth.oh and to be more specific – if you had two offers in front of you, one with barterdard at 10% higher offer price but with 20% of the deal in bartercard payment which would you go for?
thanks

When we were members we used to buy Bartercard Dollars at 47 cents $Aus to each Barter dollar.
The other issue is to try and find anyone in the construction industry to accept them.

Ah John, it’s interesting what you hear from ‘users’ of a system versus ‘sellers’….
I guess the system is only valuable if you can then find goods/services that you ‘want’ to buy from the current members.
I was ‘sold’ on the idea last year, but didn’t in the end see much point cos I didn’t sell any services etc. to earn the points…
Cheers
Melthanks guys, the 47c comment was particularly interesting.
update: I went for the cash offer. it was cleaner and I think I would have ended up frittering away the barterdollars on nothing in particular.

Good choice in my opinion.
Also bear in mind the ATO treat a Barter Dollar as exactly the same as a Aus Cash$ but as yet the ATO don’t take Bartercard for the repayment of your Tax liability. As soon as they do i am back joining again.
