Just read a post somewhere about having to have a “tax invoice” receipt as the only acceptable form of proof to claim something.
But what about goodies you buy 2nd hand? (say, tools & furniture at a market,or off a friend)??
What would be acceptable “proof” to satisfy the tax office demons??[evil5]
Would a hand written, signed receipt be ok?

Yes you can claim for the second hand goods but you do still need proof a hand written receipt is fine as long as it states what it’s for, who it was purchased from, the amount paid etc. If I’ve purchased form the paper, I usually alos cut out the ad and attach it to the receipt as further proof. It then contains the phone number etc so if the ATO want to check they can contact the person themselves.
