    Hi all, a forum first-timer here;

    I’m currently trying to gather more in depth info on the current developments surrounding the America’s Cup 2007 location in Valencia, Spain. In particular, apartment high rises due for completion just prior to the Cup. I’m looking for something off the plan. Does anyone happen to have any useful knowledge or helpful advise on this wee window of opportunity? Anyone shopped around in Spain?
    Thanks in advance.

    Coldy,

    Why don’t you look at the property market in WA and the effects of the Cup way back when as an example.

    Frankly I reckon this sort of event, like an Olypmics, would only be good for stimulating a short-term property spike, generally followed by a major drop.

    Cheers,

    Acey, have you been to Fremantle since the cup in ’87. Apart from the fact that prices have skyrocketed (along with all of Australia), there was so much cash invested into the area in the form of infastructure. Along with that, houses, apartments and townhouses have been popping up on a regular basis. I do not know what the population growth has been since then, but I hazard a guess it is one of the best in WA.

    I have spent many long lunches along South Terrace and the place is chockablock every day in Summer.

    To those who got into Freo before ’87, would have made enough to retire on IMHO.

    …and it was virtually a no go zone previously.

    Agree, it’s a top spot now.

    Re: Spain…watch those Spaniards!!!! I’ve heard many horror stories from Brits who have bought there. There’s a very different set of ethics there!

    Agree. It did not move much when America’s Cup was on but now Fremantle’s median price well over $400,000 depending what part.
    Developers also pumping pot loads of money..
