I’m about to make an offer on a property I liked. To ensured that the vendor know I’m serious, I intend to make the offer in writing and attaching a cheque with it.

    My questions is…

What is a reasonable amount in percentage term to put on a cheque?

BTW. I thoroughly enjoy reading the posts, very informational. Keep up the good work.

    Thanks

g’day – i wldnt fall for the line attach a cheque to show the vendor you are serious. why wouldnt you be serious. plus its a buyers market. agents suggest this in order to get you locked into the sale both financially and emotionally. i reckon only attach a cheque if you are trying to get the house cheap or if its a sellers market.

by the way dont fall for the we require 500 to process your offer line. you dont need to give the agent anythign

    my thoughts anyway.

i try and attach a copy of of the pre approved finance, but then blacken out how much i can borrow. this works ok, as the RE agents always seem a bit more friendlier.
    cheers

    Thanks for reply. Much appreciated.

The pre-approval method sound like a bloody good idea.

    cheers.
