I am local & looking for an IP in the bunbury area & have been told the area has become attrative to people in the eastern states as a good area to invest.
Can anybody give me any info as to what is making the area attractive.
Would be intersted to hear from anybody that may have purchased in the areaBoardy
Hi Boardy,
The attraction is its coastal location and the relative closeness to Perth – from memory approximately 2.5 hours. A train service runs through to Perth and there has been much land opened up in recent years.
Bunbury has a secure future and has a steadily growing population. Employment opportunities are not too dissimilar to Perth and there is infrastrucure to support a continually growing population.
Margaret River and Dunsborough are ‘pricey’ by comparison.
Ultimately the key driver is the relative ‘cheap’ prices when compared to eastern states areas.

Hi there, agree with Derek’s comments, however if you r looking for +ve property I dont think you will achieve this in Bunbury as prices have taken off. However, you will generally get a better yield return than Perth properties. Are you interested in land and house packages, as you can pick up a cheap block of land (Dalyingup?), this is really taking off. (Block of land approx $75,000)
Don’t know whether you have also considered Busselton, I think this is worth looking at.
Cheers
Research well. My youngest has just had to pay rent for over three months in Bunbury as the Agent could not find someone to take over his lease. Luckily his firm, who transferred him back to the big smoke, is picking up half his costs. He was living in a quite presentable 3 X 1 in Goldsmith Street.
If I knew then what I know now……….you know how it goes
