A guy sitting at an airport bar in Atlanta noticed a beautiful woman sitting next to him. He thought to himself, “Wow, she’s so gorgeous she must be a flight attendant. But which airline does she work for?”
Hoping to pick her up, he leaned towards her and uttered the Delta slogan:
“Love to fly and it shows?”
She gave him a blank, confused stare and he immediately thought to himself.
“Ooh sh*t, she doesn’t work for Delta”.
A moment later, another slogan popped into his head. He leaned towards her again.
“Something special in the air?”
She gave him the same confused look. He mentally kicked himself, and scratched American Airlines off the list.
Next he tried the United slogan:
“I would really love to fly your friendly skies?”
This time the woman turned on him “What the f**k do you want?”
The man smiled, then slumped back in his chair, and said… “ahhh, Qantas!”
That is probably not an urban myth. Unless you are flying business class or 1st class, the stewardesses can be a bit short, especially international routes!
Qantas may be the best when it comes to safety but in terms of service they could learn heaps from their USA counterparts (don’t know much about European airlines).
All over the US ( cafe’s etc etc ) i found service to be great, was a *shock* coming home and not getting it..
However, the planes i flew on seemed old and ready to drop out of the sky, prefered Ansett[xx(] and Quantas[]

I agree Redwing, except I had a shocker at Denver International Airport where the girl serving me beer had a permanent scowl on her face and did not want to be there. Made me think of a certain bar in Sydney….. Everywhere else was A+ service (esp. NYC)
You’re right about the planes too. It reminded me of a 1970’s TAA ad!
take it easy. The woman involved wasn’t necessarily a Qantas Flightattendant or any another airline’s for that matter. She might just be another passenger who was waiting for her flight.
But I agree with Chan, I like SQ still the most.
