in the paper today – for a sydney sider to afford to buy the a median price home in sydney ie arnd 550k they need to earn 120,000 per year as a family.

so we have a situation where only the top 10 pct of salry earning families can affors the average house in sydney…..

glad i live in melbourne – how do you sydneysiders do it???

No time to smell the roses in Sydney because the polution has actually killed people’s sense of smell.

I lived in Melbourne for 24 years, and am now living
in Cronulla, NSW. The Dandenongs/lilydale area of Melbourne is great, but I must say the beaches of Sydney are just that much better..

Although the Grand Prix is in Melbourne…. Hmmmm

The only reason we can afford to live where we live is that we bought our house 7 years ago. It has almost tripled in value so there is no way we could afford this suburb now.

And I have spent a lot of time in VIC, WA and QLD but Sydney is still the best city to live in…just pipping Perth.

    Cheers,
    sis

    They’ve moved to Brisbane

People 4get that by saving just $3 a day & investing it sensibly
over a working life, you’ll end up with around $1 million

    Hi Guys,

I have lived in Sydney & Adelaide & now Newcastle. Have to say that I LOVE Adelaide, and after coming back to Sydney I couldn’t wait to get away again.

I was fortunate enough to buy my house in Sydney 5.5 years ago and am now renting it out.

Newcastle is fantastic! Close enough to Sydney to visit my rellies, but far enough away that they don’t just lob on my doorstep.

    Lisa :-)

PS. Being married to a very parochial South Australian, I don’t need to tell you in what regard Melbourne is held in our household! [V]

The gap will always be too large if you don’t at least try to make the jump.

I would agree Marisa except after living in Sydney for upteen years, you miss the rat race a bit in Perth. Weird I know but you do.

Hey don’t get me wrong I would move to WA (not necessarily Perth) any day. My other half likes Sydney (and Melbourne actually) for the shopping. There is so much more here.
