All Topics / Legal & Accounting / NZ Taxes, Stamp Duty, etc.
Hi,
can anyone shed any light on basic taxes, stamp duty, etc. that applies to NZ investing in residential properties. We are in Oz and are trying to work out $ implications of buying in NZ and transferring $ to Oz.
Any help would be appreciated.
Steve[?]Steve,
I am looking at the same appraoch as you. From what I have been able to find out, there is no stamp duty on property purchase. There is no CGT either, however, haven’t confirmed but I would think it would be captured by Australian tax laws as foreign income.James
As James mentioned there is no stamp duty or CGT in NZ,
I would check with an accountant on the CGT issue,
