how come there isnt a chat channel for this group?
surely a few of us would like to have an interactive live chat?
julie
I can see it become one large spam topic – and if that dosen’t happen – can you imagine how many people will be using ‘spambots’ to advertise… well everything!.
Rgds.
Lucifer_auHi Julie,
I think chat channels can become rather purposeless after awhile – like – hi how’s it going ? what u u up 2? Etc etc.
With a forum board real topics get raised & answered & it also provides a searchable database.
My personal opinion – if this were a chat channel – I wouldn’t participate – sorry!!
Cheers

[V]i disagree. the somersoft property investing forum is a perfect example of how it can work. there are people on the chat channel all hours of the day talking about property and for me its very insightful. there is next to no spamming on the channel.
i am not suggestion that a chat channel should replace the forum but rather compliment it.
anyway, just my opinion.

[Keep going, you’re on your way to Frolic Freedom!]What do you think about having the facilities for a chat room so you could schedule online property investing ‘meetings’ on a set topic, say one evening once a month?
Brent
I am for it Brent.

That is a great idea! You can alway have a trial if it doesn’t work out then you can alway take it off.

Melgreat idea.

[The bridge between where you are right now & where you want to be tomorrow is knowledge]Good idea Brent!
A scheduled meeting is agreat great idea that way participating chatters can prepare relevant questions and topics to discuss. Would there perhaps be guest speakers or someone in particular that we can ask our questions or would it just be who ever jumps on line?

Newbie comin through!
I tewnd to think chat rooms have a different purpose. Whilst Brent’s idea is a good one- a specific topic that people can discuss, ask questions etc… that would be great for some. But there could be *two* rooms- one for mere chat- with no stipulations etc- like somersoft- and a more purpose-orientated one.
Chat rooms have the benefit of all people having different perspectives. The other idea- the “seminar” type room, could basically become a lecture- good for those who love seminars, but bad for others who like listening to different opinions.

[The bridge between where you are right now & where you want to be tomorrow is knowledge]Hi Guys
There is a chatroom at http://www.propertytalk.co.nz
which isn’t too busy, certainly not as busy as the chatroom at Somersoft. Some of you have accessed the chatroom already.

Muppet,
Thanks, to be honest propertyinvesting.com is the only website so far that I posted and read most of the time.I have not been to any other site. May be I will in the future.

[The bridge between where you are right now & where you want to be tomorrow is knowledge]A topic-dedicated chat room sounds like a fantastic idea! Perhaps more often than once a month though. Or perhaps once per month for a topic like “interest rate predictions”, and more frequently for others?
Perhaps even have a list of topics somewhere on the site which people vote for. Whichever topic has the most votes for it, is given at chat session once a week/fortnight/month or something?
Anyways, please keep us posted!
