    Hello,

Whats the easiest way to prepare walls and ceilings for a new coat of paint? is there a product available that anyone can recomend??? ie a cleaning product, not a paint removal product btw… i hav tried sugar soap in a spray bottle in the past, but i found that it needed to be rinsed off as well, i also found that even “lint free” cleaning cloths and sponges left fibres all over the walls stuck in the little crevices and barbs that are usually on the walls of old paint jobs, ie over cement rendering…

    thanx :)

    Hi Jason,

    Thanks for your post.

Re: preparing walls. Here’s a couple of useful websites I found:

    http://www.apapublishing.com.au/articles/article.asp?ArticleId=417

In addition, I would imagine that your local Bunnings would have a Fact Sheet to help you out.

    Cheers,

    Steve McKnight

    Hi Jason
I’ve used sugar soap in the spray bottle and just wiped it off with a towel as I go.

You should give the walls a light sand to ensure they are even and there are no shinny bits and the scrub with sugar soup – put the putty stuff in all the little holes and cracks and wipe down with water as sugar soap can leave a residue.

I give the walls a light sand and use ‘No more Gaps’
