Did you select your accountant because they specialised in a particular area of business that interests you – say property investment? Or do you go with a generalist and rely on them to refer particular issues to specialist colleagues?

We’re a single salary couple interested in property investment, but we also have a couple of income-generating hobbies and we’re of an age where superannuation is of short- to medium-term interest. Is it unreasonable to expect one accountant to cover that, not particularly unusual, range of issues?

Not that I can seriously imagine having to choose between accountants. As I’ve posted on another thread, we’ve tried with two in 3 years. Personally I’m almost ready to go with anyone who answers their own phone.

A good generalist should be your first point of call. You don’t sound like its rocket science.

Hi Ghoti – where are you based? I know some good ones in SE Qld.
