    Hi guys

You know how you can drag files around in Explorer to move them to different folders, and copy them to disk? Well, my computer won’t let me.

It won’t even let me copy the file, and then paste it somewhere else.

    Any ideas?

    Cheers
    Mel

Yeah, I get the feeling that my name is appearing far too often – especially when I look at active topics, and all I see as the last poster is ‘melbear'[:)]

I keep wondering ‘Where is Arty, where is Poltergeist, what has Pinky done to them, and where has she gone?'[:O]

Hey Poltergeist, I worked out how to move the items – go up to Edit, and Choose ‘Move to Folder’. Then I did the standard windows solution, closed Windows Explorer, and opened it again and voila – it works again![:)]

My job is actually as a Data Analyst for the Navy part of the Department of Defence.

I got really sick of it earlier this year, and have been on leave since January. My boss changed, and my supervisor (I got a new one of them too) is an a#$%, and I decided I had had it. I was going to make my properties pay for themselves, but also become a mortgage broker just so I coul learn for myself, and help out my friends. That’s taken longer to happen, and I’m not sure yet if it will or not.

So while on leave, my boss, 2ic, and supervisor all decided they would be ba%$#ds, and decided to cancel my leave. So I have been on sick leave since, madly trying to make my properties pay for themselves so that I can tell them to take their job and

give it to someone more deserving than I!!

    Cheers

leave since january WOW! you are doing very well hope you don’t have to go back to job! I have also new Boss and sort of supervisor but they don’t know what they do so it’s not that bad! [:)]but I want to go on holiday also for 10-20 years! [8D]

Only 10-20 years? I think you’re aiming for too short a timeframe! I don’t think I’ll ever ‘not work’ but it will be the work that I want to do, like investing, and helping my family/friends to become financially free, and to do a lot of travelling.

I had six months rec leave, three months long service leave, and six months sick leave. I’m down to three months rec leave (and increasing by the week), three months long service leave, and about a month and a half sick leave![:)]

If my boss had of let me use up my leave, I would be done by now, and have to have gone back (no way[^] that was going to happen), or resigned. As it is I’m having a paid holiday, and it’s been really good. Although if I was at work still, I would be at 2000 posts, as there really wasn’t much for me to do – I used to read lots of jokes, and send out a mailing list of them!

    Cheers

Yes you are right Mel I was trying to say same.. yes every one want to work but not as a job where you don’t like working etc.. My job is not bad but I don’t feel i am really doing anything.. I can enjoy relax life with my job but it’s just boring…..

but I feel I am better than some other people working there because they all have plan for working there or some where else ( for some extra money or POST) for rest of their life and most of them think it’s not possible to stop working etc.. [:)]

Yes, in the public service there are many many people who are ‘career public servants’, and that’s the ONLY way they’re ever going to make any money.

You can earn really good money, for not a lot of work, but that’s all they are happy with, and intend to stay forever!

I actually enjoyed my job, but I didn’t enjoy my new ‘superiors’, and I’ve always thought, if you don’t like your boss, then you need to change jobs. I had succeeded in doing that, but then my boss would not let me go![:(][xx(]

ok, since you started this, I have a problem too.
A couple of months ago my modem died (internal), so I bought a new one a Harvey Norman and installed it myself.[:P]
Very proud I was, until I realised that the old modem was a speaker phone modem and now I have no-where to plug my speakers into [:O]
What do you suggest? And go easy on me, I’m not real good at this sort of thing….

Jaffasoft, once again you step in with your pearls of wisdom! At least my posts are helpful, rather than hateful.

I thought you had improved, noting that you had deleted a lot of your nasty posts, but I guess I was wrong.[:(]

Although I note the smilie, so I hope maybe you are not being nasty.[?][:O]

13 posts and already you have a reputation as a pain in the ass?

didnt your mum ever teach you “if ya aint got nuthin good to say, shut the hell up before I slap you into next week”

also, a wise man once told me:

“if you do not respect someone, why care what they say about you?”

    think about it

im quite certain nobody takes a serial whiner seriously…..

ps mel, I reckon you must have some security option enabled which is causing that problem.

    Hi Mel,

I disagree with “and I’ve always thought, if you don’t like your boss, then you need to change jobs.” I think it’s better to change the boss and keep the job you like.

Also don’t worry about people who criticize the amount of posts you do. I’ve found your answers very helpfull, well 99% that is.

Crashy it’s good to see you’re back.

C2, but how does one change one’s boss?

I know we could always kill them and hide the body, but to try and change the personality of somebody else is almost impossible.

There is always the option of ‘changing yourself’ so it doesn’t bother you, but there are some things that will always get through.

C2 – Good point but sometimes it’s difficult not to leave. The last area i worked in was brilliant, the guys were great, the hours suited me perfectly (run your own race basically), and the actual work was enjoyable and rewarding…

Unfortunately the “boss” if you could call her that was a useless fool with no idea of how things worked. She had one “pet” who was promoted by incompetence as he was the only one prepared to actually kiss her not inconsiderable sized butt… [:O]

As a result of telling her exactly what i thought of her management style (hey, she asked !!) i’ve now been pushed out of my area and given a secondment to a higher position. Only two months later though the tide is turning and senior management are looking for ways to get rid of her.

I’ve also been asked by the person who will potentially take over her role if i’d consider coming back to the area. Damn straight i will !!
So i guess the moral to the story is stick it out and sooner or later poor managers get found out… [;)]

    Cheers,
