    Hi,

Steve & Julie are days maybe hours away from giving birth to their first baby.

But what will it be – Boy or Girl [?]

When will it be born [?] TODAY???

Let’s have some fun and see if anyone can guess correctly whether it’s a girl or boy and also guess the day and time of birth…

    Here’s my guess…

    A girl

    Born at 12.03am Monday28th October 2003.[:D]

    Good luck Steve & Julie.[;)]

    Regards,

    Del

I’m guessing boy. I have no idea when it’s due, so this one’s a bit harder.

    8pm Tuesday 28th (Monday is 27th Del).

    Cheers

    Hiya,

As long as it’s a healthy baby, that’s all that matters!

However, so I’m not a party pooper [;)] I’ll do a guess…Wednesday 29th Oct ’03, Little Girl with Jule’s pretty features and fairish hair.
Now if I looked at Jules about now, I could guess with more accuracy as to when labour would start (trick of the trade, but not so accurate). I could also predict she’d go into labour today if I told her a couple of tricks… LOL![:D]

Whatever happens, wishing you a easy journey! G-d Bless!
    Cheers

    Hi there,

Technically speaking, Jules can go into labour any time until this coming Sat 1st Nov, without any intervention.

Perhaps we should all be guessing how many jellybeans are in the jar? [:D]

Oh, and whilst we are guessing, did you know that vegetarians have a higher chance of having boys than girls? Or so the stats say… [:0)]

How many of you think the weather plays a part in when a women goes into labour? [:D][;)]

    Sooshie,

I know car travel can speed it up.. LOL

Pinky can explain more, my male brain tends not to remember all the details.. Pinky was in labour, we drove to the hospital, and nothing.. it was a false call… then on the drive home.. bump bump on the roads, and we ended up going back to the hospital not long after…..

    LOL
Ok, Pinky, add the missing bits.. LOL

    Arty.

    Sooshie,

I actually felt sorry for Pinky in pain, and said “go on slap me if you want”… the midwife gave me a funny look of “stupid boy!” as Pinky let a badly aimed punch to the face, sorta like im not sure where this is going to land… LOL [B)][B)]

    I asked for it though… [:D][:D][:D][:D]

    Hi Arty,

YES! You did ask for it, so you got it. I’m sure the midwife was thinking more in the lines of “geez he’s brave” LOL![:D]

    Hi there,

As the birth of a baby is such a joyous occasion, people also tend to forget it is also a private moment.
I know Steve has become a public figure, but let’s respect that he has a private life as well.
I’m sure when the time is right we’ll hear the good news and we will all be able to wish them our congratulations.

    Cheers

    Hiya,

    Okay, reread my post…
I’m not suggesting anyone has been disrespectfull,
so please don’t hang me [:P]
I know, we’re all waiting for the good news.
I was merely reflecting on professional experience and that sometimes people can wait up to 2 weeks to actually inform others of the baby’s birth. Usually because they want to have some private moments before the phone starts ringing, the next door neighbour wants to do babysitting, the questions on the actual labour etc are asked etc etc etc.

Do any of you have some good labour stories to tell? [:D]

    Cheers

I’m not so sure there is such a thing as a ‘good’ labour story!

As far as patience goes, however, there I can comment.

My son was due on June 5. Mum and Dad came from interstate to stay the first three weeks after the birth to help out. Three weeks later, June 25 (the day they were due to leave) I went into labour. 43 hours later I gave birth.

Best thing… my wrinkly little baby.

Worst thing… endless phone calls over three weeks that went something like this..

    Me: Hello.
    Them: Oh….. you’re still there!
Me: That would be how it came to be that I answered the phone.
    Them: How are you?
    Me: Round.
    .. etc.

    Three weeks of this!!!

Labour was a breeze. (actually, that would be a lie)

    Hiya,

So on which day did you actually have your baby? Was it on the 25th or 43 hours after the 25th, but what time? I was born on the 26th of June.

I purposefully told people that I was due 2 weeks later than the actual date, so that I could avoid the questions “Haven’t you had the baby yet? When are you due?” etc etc It also gave me some private time with my baby and my family. I get clucky just thinking about it again.

What an awesome experience! I still cry at all my client’s birthings LOL! At the active birth workshop, I started crying just watching a video of a really beautiful birth… All the pregnant women and their partners looked at me blubbering away, I think with much amusement. [:D]

What do you remember most about your midwife or OB (i.e. what they said or did), when you were in labour?

    Cheers

    Hi Sooshie,

Baby Mikey was eventually dragged out at 9.33pm on June 26 so you do share a birthday.

I think because it all went on so long, no one midwife stands out in my memory. The nurses after the birth however were great and made me feel so comfortable in the hospital and as a new mum.
