“Dear children, do not be afraid of life. How good is life once you have done something good, once you have been true to the truth within you.” – Aliosha, The Brothers Karamazov Feodor Mikhailovich Dostoyevsky.
I had it up in my web site… It appeals to me greatly.

When a problem is created the solution is created simultaneously
This weeks thought is:
If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the lonliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation – you are ahead of 500 million people in the world.
It brings us back to reality and down to earth doesn’t it? What’s life all about?
Arty, you may not believe just words on a screen, but I do think of those kids near every day. I use it as my reminder that life ain’t so bad. To be born into poverty and sickness with little hope seems so wrong. I dont want to get too deep here guys, but you have hit a chord. I reckon that we are here for reason, to make a difference, an impact somehow. Life is beyond $.
I filled up my ute with petrol last week. I asked the obligatory “How are you?” to the console operator. He said: “Every day above ground is a good day”.
Arty, all you really need to see is the name ‘Dostoyevsky’. Little history lesson here okay…Sheesh, I have to go back to Year 11 English Lit class…LOL! (Thank you Mrs Wenig!)

When a problem is created the solution is created simultaneously
Go Placidly
amid the noise and haste,
remember what peace there may Be in silence.
As far as possible Be on good terms
with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly
and clearly and listen to others,
even the dull and ignorant,
they to have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others
you may Become vain and Bitter,
for always there will be greater and lesser persons
than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements
as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career
however humble,
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes
of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is.
Many persons strive for high ideals
and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself.
Especially do not feign affection.
Neither Be cynical about love, for
in the face of all aridity and disenchantment,
it is perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit
to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe
no less than the trees and the stars.
you have a right to Be here,
and whether or not it is clear to you
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God.
Whatever you conceive him to be and whatever
your labours and aspirations in the
noisy confusion of life,
keep peace with your soul.
with all it’s sham and drudgery and
broken dreams,
it is still a Beautiful world.
Be careful.
Strive to Be happy.
Once upon a time, two brothers who lived on adjoining farms fell into conflict. It was the first serious rift in 40 years of farming side-by-side, sharing machinery and trading labor and goods as needed without a hitch.
Then the long collaboration fell apart.
It began with a small misunderstanding and it grew into a major difference and finally, it exploded into an exchange of bitter words followed by weeks of silence.
One morning there was a knock on John’s door. He opened it to find a man with a carpenter’s toolbox.
I’m looking for a few days’ work,” he said. Perhaps you would have a few small jobs here and there I could help with? Could I help you?”
Yes,” said the older brother. “I do have a job for you. Look across the creek at that farm. That’s my neighbor. In fact, it’s my younger brother!
Last week there was a meadow between us. He recently took his bulldozer to the river levee and now there is a creek between us.
Well, he may have done this to spite me, but I’ll do him one better. See that pile of lumber by the barn? I want you to build me a fence an 8-foot fence – so I won’t need to see his place or his face anymore.”
The carpenter said, “I think I understand the situation. Show me the nails and the post-hole digger and I’ll be able to do a job that pleases you.” The older brother had to go to town, so he helped the carpenter get the materials ready and then he was off for the day.
The carpenter worked hard all that day — measuring, sawing and nailing. About sunset when the farmer returned, the carpenter had just finished his job. The farmer’s eyes opened wide, his jaw dropped. There was no fence there at all. It was a bridge. A bridge that stretched from one side of the creek to the other! A fine piece of work, handrails and all!
And the neighbor, his younger brother, was coming toward them, his hand outstretched … “You are quite a fellow to build this bridge after all I’ve said and done.”
The two brothers stood at each end of the bridge, and then they met in the middle, taking each other’s hand. They turned to see the carpenter hoist his toolbox onto his shoulder.
“No, wait! Stay a few days. I’ve a lot of other projects for you,” said the older brother. “I’d love to stay on,” the carpenter said, “but, I have many more bridges to build.”
Remember This .
Ø God won’t ask what kind of car you drove, but He’ll ask how many people you drove who didn’t have transportation.
Ø God won’t ask the square footage of your house, but He’ll ask how many people you welcomed into your home.
Ø God won’t ask about the clothes you had in your closet, but He’ll ask how many you helped to clothe.
Ø God won’t ask what your highest salary was, but He’ll ask if you compromised your character to obtain it.
Ø God won’t ask what your job title was, but He’ll ask if you performed your job to the best of our ability.
Ø God won’t ask how many friends you had, but He’ll ask how many people to whom you were a friend.
Ø God won’t ask in what neighborhood you lived, but He’ll ask how you treated your neighbors.
Ø God won’t ask about the color of your skin, but He’ll ask about the content of your character.
Ø God won’t ask why it took you so long to seek Salvation, but He’ll lovingly take you to your mansion in heaven, and not to the gates of Hell.
Ø God won’t ask how many people you forwarded this to, but He’ll ask why you were you ashamed to pass it on to your friends.
Thought I’d share it with you…
Cheers
