Ive worked lots of different jobs…from blood and guts clean ups to working at Mac donalds (dont ask me anything coz I swear u would NEVER eat there again) to working at the Hilton in Melbourne.

But the worst job I ever had was working in a piggery!! I lasted 6 days before I quit! First and only job I ever walked away from..even tho the wage was $27 an hour. (I was 16..that was like making gold!! LOL) In that 6 days I had cuts from where Id been bitten…bruises too! My little toe and 3 of its mates had gone numb from being stepped on by a 1000 pound sow…my watch had been eaten by a litter of piglets…..I couldnt get the smell outta my hair or my clothes!! What topped it off….was the last day I was there….a sow had broken down a few fences….and it was up to me…and just me….to round up over 40 piglets on the loose!! Mud everywhere….sqealing pigs..a yelling boss telling me go that way!! go that way!! His stupid dog barking at everything. Once it started raining…that was it!! I mean how many nails can a girl break before she says IVE HAD IT!! (four…I counted)

That was the worst job Id EVER had!!

anyone else had a rotten job?

Mine is nothing so exciting. Public Service – absolutley nothing to do, used to read jokes all day and surf the internet. How I wish this forum and I knew each other back then, I might have a few more brain cells that wouldn’t have wasted away.

    Cheers
    Mel

It’s 99% of lawyers that give the other 1% a bad name (I reckon that’s close for Public Servants that I have worked, um, shared office space with)

Well… there have been a few bad ones, but not as bad as your Pinkster. [:O]

    ..turning back the clock..
    – I have assembled fish tank equipment.. heaters, etc. you always came home with splinters of fine glass in your fingers..[B)]
    – I have been a Taxi Driver ! (4 years) all i can say is I got used the smell of vomit. [xx(]
    – I have panel beaten for 2 years…the grease and dust stays on you for days, its like a permanent stain on your skin. [xx(]

    Im sick now… [xx(]

    [:D]

    Regards,
    Arty.

    Sorry Guy’s nothing that exciting.

I worked in a chemists (my Dad’s) and always used to get asked for condoms and tampax. As a 12 year old something new [:I] !

Worked in a hotel bar in a rough area of England so used to get “exciting” on a Friday and Saturday night dodging glasses, bottles and fists [B)].

Worked as a cleaner in the USA over the summer at a resort in the Rockies. Cleaning kitchens, toilets and room. Always had a smile on my face [:D] as I knew this was not going to last too long or else I would have hung myself. Bar work again at Uni. Did tele sales for a computer company (lasted two weeks).

Worked as a supermarket manager, early mornings and night shift was a killer , I like my bed too much.

Now working in HK in the construction industry where I have put cranes on a bridge pier in the middle of a river, fallen of the end of the bridge as the railing gave way [:O] (luckily had a harness on) and eaten dog and a multitude of laeve and insects [xx(] in China when station there for a year.

So I guess nothing too bad, mostly interesting.

    Cheers

in between high school and uni – i worked 40hr weeks for 7 weeks at 4 bucks an hour making and moulding (spelling?) carpet for cars. me and another bloke would grab the carpet, when the mould press opened up throw the carpet in, close the press wch was boiling hot in order to mould the carpet. then with a stupidly sharp knife i had to trim the ends from the mould as quickly as possible b4 it cooled down. 40c room for 8 hours with the usual breaks all for aby 40 bucks a day…

then moved to buger king flipping burgers and cleaning the kitchen at 2 in the morning..

then moved to target (cleaner and more money)

then moved to jb hifi (the best uni job)

now i work in a job where i often work 70 hrs a week sometimes trading at 3-4 in the morning.

not good for the health when y’re trading all day and night especially when the trades dont go well and spend most of the time yelling at brokers from around the world. it gets worse when the market changes suddenly and yr staring at a loss in the many thousands.

    very high burnout

it has its good points though

    cheers

    Lets see

    1st job – McDonalds

2nd job – picking tomatoes. sheer hell

3rd job – apprentice electrician. Spent 2 years working at a sewerage plant. Yummo. Got used to the smell quick, and the loadings were unreal. Most of the time we were on ‘go-slow’ and I often slept in a dark place during work hours. All the shots were a bit of a pain. On the plus side, whenever there is a drug bust, you know where the good stuff ends up. We had a free supply of weed for life, cos man it grows quick with all that fertiliser.

Once I finished the apprenticeship I battled new disgusting places in peoples homes, like under floors and in ceilings. Its no fun I tell ya. The mess I could handle, but the arrogance and patronism of the snobby North Sydneysiders wore me down. I got ripped off by many a millionaire solicitor, and turned up to hundreds of jobs where the customer had called someone else after booking me in. Then theres all the people who think they can just not pay cos they dont feel like it. Ive pulled my share of main fuses I tell ya. On the plus side, I was the highest paid electrician in Australia, earning $250 an hour. Its just that the customer never did the maths. I charged $60 a pop to put in a light which took 10 mins and cost me $20. Do 25 of em in 4 hours and you got $1000 profit. Whammo, $250 an hour and one very happy customer. Well they could afford it. Plus it added $10k to the value of their home.
I wonder if they would be less patronising if they knew I was on a higher hourly rate than them? LOL

    Hi again,

LOL!!! Some interesting things you’ve all done.

I won’t mention the details…especially not so close to dinner time, but when I was working at MMC as a Recovery nurse…
    Scene…

Post surgery for elderly gent with gastric- bowel obstruction. I was there when it happened and as a post-graduate nurse (only 3 months out of Uni) they left me to clean up, by myself.

It’s true, nurses need guts of steel, but we still have our weaknesses and that day, each one of them happened in the gallons, literally.

    Uggh!
