We are looking for a nice new place for our PPOR.[]
In the general direction of Woodend..Sunbury..Toolenvale the Calder Fwy for easy access, no more than say 30mins from where the Ring Road meets the Calder Fwy.
We want a 3 brm house, with some land ie 5,10,15.. acres. Of course the cheaper the better.. but not too run down LOL
We want to put our roots down for a while (this time).. we have bought/sold/bought/sold too many times and we want to settle for a bit… nice a quiet… []
Any suggestions of “nice quiet” locations ?[]
Regards,
Arty.

Arty,
I’m on 60 acres up near Kilmore… spent a lot of time researching prices etc before we bought 12 months ago, and up that way is definitely where you get best bang for your buck… prices have moved since we bought, but it’s still affordable… I commute each day into Richmond, it’s 60 minutes at the moment, but once the Craigieburn bypass goes in it’ll come down by about 10-15 minutes. Cheers

I think Goonawarrwa is a new housing development area ( haven’t that way for a few years now) and may be worth a look but you may only be able to get a house block without the extra land, not sure.
I grew up livig in Woodend. It is a lovely little town, my folks still live there. Since the freeway bypass went through some of the new shops have struggled. I like the town, but now live in Bacchus Marsh,(I love it here).
I lived in Sunbury for a while, didn’t like it as much, I like the town feel. Goonawarra is an estate just outside Sunbury. Depends what you are looking for, but if you want some acres, Gonnawarra is not really an option, it is mostly building blocks. On the way from there to Romsey you might find something.
Good luck with it all. Keep in mind Bacchus Marsh and surrounds are only 20 minutes from the ring road.
Cheers,
Fiona
I have been to Woodend a number of times, its a great little town and the people are much warmer than your average city person. Plus it not all the far from Melbounre.
Hi Guys,
We actually live in Gisborne South, which is basically inbetween Sunbury and Gisborne along the Calder Fwy.
It is a great spot, we live on 10 acres and have easy freeway access to the city, approx 35 min. However I don’t like your chances of getting something really cheap around this area, the land is worth quite a bit as it is good soil, like there are alot of wineries and cherry farms in the area,
