What are people’s favourite books on the topics of budgeting/money/investing in general?
I have the Kiyosaki books, already and need more.
I am a complete novice, by the way.

Essentially if you are creating a business (even a business in investing) the best book bar none that i have found is “The E-Myth revisited” by Micheal E Gerber.

Oh and it is an easy read not like the “habits” books which are a chore for me.

For a beginner who wants something that does not recommend stupid things (eg quitting your job when you’ll need it to help get finance) I suggest Noel Whittaker’s ‘Making Money Made Simple’. It was a best seller and you often see them at garage sales, school fetes, etc for a couple of bucks.

Anything by Paul Clitheroe is also good, even though I remember him vigorously pushing international shares a few years ago.

Note though that the strategies for someone wanting to be well off by 65 are different to someone wanting to be financially independent in 10 years.

That’s why you will see different opinions of diversification versus concentration of risks and the extent you should borrow to increase your portfolio. It’s the old risks/returns thing.

Well…I suggest you read as many, as diverse as possible. Borrow them from the library. Don’t forget about magazines on investment etc.

Read the papers daily and talk to people who are like-minded when it comes to investing.

    G’day Apollonia,

Suggested reading for facts / figures / how to / etc :
Anything by Jan Somers – but particularly “More Wealth from Residential Property”

Anita Bell – “Your Investment Property”

Dolf DeRoos – “Real Estate Riches”, part of the Rich Dad advisor series.

Steve McKnight – “0 to 130 properties in 3.5 years”

Suggested reading for motivation and general concepts :
Anything by Robert Kiyosaki – but particularly “Rich Dad Poor Dad”.

    Peter Spann – “Wealth Magic”

Once you get through that lot, or possibly even before, I’d recommend actually buying a property or two !!

    Have a good one,

    BDM

once you get a basic knowledge try reading the australian financial review. the weekend edition is great for a broader perspective.

if it embarrasses you to be seen reading the a f r
you can slip it inside a copy of hello magazine or English football weekly.

    Hi Everyone,
This is my first time to this website, I just bought the 130 property book today!
Thanks for your helpful tips on books to read, it’s great to find a website that actually gives you great information instead of asking you “Send your money now and I’ll tell you how it’s done”.

Good luck to all of you in your investing endeavours,

    Everyone Thanks.

As some of you may have found I was just asking the same thing.

    I’ve read –
    Your Mortgage By Anita Bell
    Building Wealth by Jan Somers
    Money by Paul Clitheroe
0 to 130 Properties by The Steve Man
Real Estate Mistakes by Neil Jenman (Just Bought it)

    Any other suggestions??

    Sorry once again y’all
    Teylu

    Cheers

    Hi apollonia,
    May I suggest another two:

The Property Investors handbook by Graham J. Airey

    Property Smart by Terry Ryder

both written for the novice investor and the Australian perspective.

Just finished One Minute Millionaire. Very
    interesting.

    Regards
    Rita

    Yeah, thanks, Andrew!
This is an anonymous forum so we get to behave in less than socially acceptable ways and I have a really bad and rude habit of correcting people’s English and I really am itching to correct yours (definitively proove) but would you be awfully offended if i did?[;)]
