I’m a sucker for reading and own & recommend the following (even though they advocate different approaches, not all of which I will use):

    * Property

From 0-130 properties in 3.5 years (Mcknight)
    Seven Steps to Wealth (Fitzgerald)
    Your Investment Property (Bell)
Your Mortgage and how to pay it off (Bell)
How to create an income for life (Lomas)
Building Wealth story by story (Somers)
More wealth from residential property (Somers)
    The Property Investors Handbook (Airey)
    Streets Ahead (Wakelin)

(Note that Fitzgerald, Wakelin and probably Airey are strong advocates of capital growth/negative gearing approach)

    * General

    Borrowing to Invest (Whittaker/Resnik)
    Making Money made simple (Whittaker)
    Rich Dad Poor Dad (Kiyosaki)
    Retire Young Retire Rich (Kiyosaki)
    The Millionaire Mind (Stanley)
Unlock the secrets of your money personality (Smith)

I would have to say that Fitzgeralds’ book “7 steps to wealth” is a must read.

    You only need three books

    1. Streets ahead (how to buy for captal gains/negative gear)
    2 Steves book (cashflow/positive gear
3 Real estate mistakes by Jenman (how to buy from bad real estate agents)

Others have said it, but Robert Kyosaki’s Retire Young Retire Rich is the best “Psychi” book I have read. I also read another good book recently called “Nothing Down for the 90’s”. I know we are not in the 90’s, but most of it still applies.

If you want an extraordinary life you have to be prepared to do things that ordinary people aren’t prepared to do.

Motivational books are good too and I concurr with all the previous posts regarding authors such as whittaker, bell, kiyosaki etc.

Some of the good ones I have read over the years are:

    The Dream lives on!
    Business Directions
    Endless Referrals
    Steves book
How to win friends and influence people
    All of Kiyosaki’s books
    All of Anita Bells’ books

Happy Reading – But don’t get bogged down in the research – start doing as well.

No-one’s mentioned Brad Sugars’ “Real Money, Real Estate” as far as I can see. Brad’s stuff is very hands on, and he has sooo many ideas in every area of business. His Property Wealth Wheel is an interesting idea. He talks a lot about businesses in his seminars, but mostly as a way to obtain money for real estate.

We love Anita Bells books. We read her first book “Your mortgage and houw to pay it off in 5 years, by someone who did it in 3” and it was full of practical advice about budgeting and some simple solutions to problems that can pop up.

As soon as we applied her budgeting scheme, we saved $20k in 6 months. Pretty bl*&dy good considering we were not being paid that well. We are still applying her principals today and probably will do until we get enough passive income for me to work part time!

So, in my opinion, her books are almost like the bible. Simple and easy to read. And she uses layman words.
    Cheers
    Steph.
