    Hi fellows,

I’m wondering if I could get some advice from those of you who have experience in writing, publishing and selling your own books.

I’m in the process of finishing a book on DIY residential property conveyancing for use in WA. I originally started writing it to help me remember what to do in a property settlement, but realised that other people wanted to know how to settle their own property purchases, or at least wanted to know how the whole process worked. So I decided to write it as a step by step guide for your average property buyer, to either do the entire conveyancing process themself, or simply to follow the process each step of the way.

Anyway, I’m nearly finished, but realised that the next thing I need to do is to try to figure out how to get the dang thing published so that people can buy it (hopefully, enough people will want to do so).

I’ve been doing research – I could either try to sell it in bookshops, or sell it over the internet, or do both. And do I need to get my books professionally printed? If so, when? anyway, these are some of the questions running through my mind.

    Any advice?

    Cheers & thanks in advance!!

P.S. I’d also welcome any suggestions on what people think should go in the book

try a company like Wright Books, they do all the legwork, you simply hand them the text and they do the rest. You dont get much though, its like $2 a book profit. Alternative is to pay for printing yourself, and do all your own marketing, which means canvassing every bookstore in WA, and keeping them stocked. LOTS of work, but lots of money IF it sells.

I was also told to try http://www.moneybags.com.au but havent looked into it.

Your book sounds like a great idea.

I’ve come across a good website that you should take a look at…

    http://www.parapublishing.com

Its a US site, but has heaps of tips on book writing, publishing and promoting (both online and printed).

I’d like to write a book too someday!
