Social media enters the realm of Australian real estate
For investors who like to stay at the forefront of Australian real estate, you may be interested in the recent launch of a brand new social networking website called Housenet.com.au.
Introduced to the Australian market in September, this innovative tool was designed to bring transparency to the industry and help stakeholders make informed choices about property.
“We’re helping people to change the property market for the better, by adapting social networking technology for local housing,” Housenet.com.au chief executive officer Darren Moffatt said in a statement issued October 16.
“This is a national first, and we think it can radically improve transparency in our real estate market.”
The website provides a platform for consumers to view profiles of Australian real estate agents and make contact with them if they choose.
This helps people to get to know who they may want to deal with and also see other clients’ feedback about a certain agent before they decide to hire a particular one.
As a huge financial commitment and what could be a risky venture, it is quite helpful to be given the opportunity to communicate with people who may hold impact upon your financial future.
“With our Vital Stats feature, agents and professionals now publish crucial data about their own performance as dynamic charts on their Housenet profile page,” explained Mr Moffatt.
“Consumers can then use this information to target and compare the right person for their transaction.”
The website also provides a variety of resources useful for investors – including blogs, chat, a document library, and question and answer forums.
Having several real estate tools at your disposal can help you to plan for your investment future and may be able to help you avoid costly mistakes.

Another tool that will be manipulated and abused I'm guessing. I don't think any review type site has ever been able to completely shake off the image of dodgy reviews and reviewers.
For people who in their lifetime may only buy/sell property once or twice, it will be invaluable to see reviews on agents.
What a brilliant concept.
