Yorker replied to the topic Going to Tasmania -where to look for property?? in the forum General Property 20 years, 4 months ago
Matt,
Obviously you have visited the region. I agree, however don’t think one should totally dismiss mining towns, I bought in 5 years ago, very cheaply i.e 4 bedroom house for $10,000 and have recently sold it for $60,000. I think if you do your research you’ll be OK.

Tin Man
Life doesn’t need to be taken that seriously. In answer to your question, the key to building your $ war chest is to build relationships with your bankers. If they trust you and you establish a track record, you’ll get your money. Apologies for any offence before, not intended mate.

Yorker replied to the topic Sydney Car Parks – Shrinking or Myth in the forum Help Needed! 20 years, 4 months ago
I think these carparks return around 3%, however there is no vacancy risk or major maintenance. There are outgoings, however I think people must be looking for capital appreciation.
Yorker replied to the topic Can u pay family ? in the forum No Subject 20 years, 4 months ago
I would be very careful to do this correctly. A good way to record it is to keep a journal of what the family member actually does for the property. Write out and keep basic receipts and ensure that they declare the amounts in thier own individual assessment. If you are going to do this, why not actually make them work for the money???

You may be onto something there. A few of my mates are getting into those. These are smart fellows, so maybe a good investment. Let me know how you go.

I attended the seminar, perhaps the greatest waste of valuable time ever. Not only did they decide to cancel the only two speakers I actually wanted to hear, the marketing company was guilty of false advertising. I’ve got to say I was rather p#ssed off by it all. Very unprofessional pack of liars!

Might I suggest that owning your own home is a very sound idea. Everyone needs a place to call home.

Yorker replied to the topic Darwin still showing growth in the forum General Property 20 years, 4 months ago
You both make some valid points. I’ve been to Darwin several times over the years and in the past your concerns rang true, hence I didn’t invest there. However at present the government is pouring money into infrastructure, the new train line is up and running and the region is becoming the gateway to Asian trade. Each to there own I guess, but I…[Read more]

Your right it was a little broad. I hold properties in most states, Darwin just seems to be performing the best at the moment. I sold out of Sydney mid 2003 and am currently in a bit of a wait and see phase. What are you doing?
