    Hi JJ,
The Taxation Examiner is far more than a book.  It is a phenomenal service.  As a subscriber you receive bimonthly newsletters detailing all the changes in the tax legislation and it is written in lay language making it easy to understand.   This keeps you up to date and aware of what you are entitled to claim.  I sure know my accountant doesn't have the time to keep up with all the changes because we are in the midst of the biggest overhaul of our tax system in 50 yrs.  As a subscriber you also receive their Annual Tax Reference Guide which is a book covering the A-Z of tax, plus 2 booklets: 1 has 240 Commonly overlooked deductions which is why the ATO had billions of $$$$$ in overpaid taxes, some years ago, because small business leave everything in their accountants hands.  Also at no extra cost The Taxation Examiner gives their subscribers full and free access to their research department.  This is a write in service so you can write by letter, fax or email any tax question you have, this can be business related or personal.  They do all the research for you and then respond anonymously in the following newsletter.  This is worth hundreds if not thousands of dollars if you make good use of it.  The service is only $290 per annum including GST and is claimable under Business Subscriptions.  I am aware there are two other similar services that both cost over $400.  Given that they copied The Taxation Examiner and The Taxation Examiner has been operating since 1989, I know who I choose to be with.  You can subscribe by contacting their office on 07 5630 5500.  AND if you pay up front by credit card they will also give you a Capital Gains Tax Register to log all your business assets and related costs PLUS 3 back issues of the newsletter absolutely FREE.  Just mention the sales code "FA".  Hope this helps.
