Hi Kay Henry,
Thanks again for that response… My husband is Australian and he decided to come back here – permanently – and so I’m here. That’s one of the comments of an acquaintance too – that I may be applying for too senior positions. I go through The Age classified ads weekly and apply, but I get no response… Nyways, I guess I have to apply for graduate positions then until I get my qualifications recognised. Change of strategy… It’s just so challenging that after i’ve made good biz connections in HK, I’m in a new place and is going through the same process again… no relatives, no friends. haaaaaaaay
While overseas, we’ve been buying properties here; except we don’t have enough time to look after our investments. But now that we’re here permanently, it’s an area I really want to “manage” more closely, so I do read most of the info provided here. It’s a very good source of info… thanks for the site!

Hi Kay Henry,
Thanks for replying on my post; I really appreciate that. My experience is in research and writing, consulting and a bit of marketing. I have a BS degree in Communications, MA units in Communications and an MBA. I’ve worked in Hong Kong for 6 years and 7 years in the Philippines. One company I was interested in Melbourne said that I don’t have the Australian experience hence was not considered for a job… that really was a big disappointment on my part. Tried looking for some part-time work in an admin. role, but 3 cos. said I’m overqualified! Now, I’m just looking for a volunteer position so that I can put on my cv that I have the aussie experience…
