Well really, I think this requires a bit more thought.
first I think your opening comments are highly offensive, not only to Muslims but to Australians as well.
I am Australian, of English decent and was amazed that you actually had the view that all Muslim’s are violent. Do all italians own deli’s? We all know that there are fruitcakes in every race. Take a look around, violence, murder, robbery and even terrorism is not restricted to the muslims. Remember David Hicks? I know and work with quite a few muslims and they are lovely people, as are aussies, greeks, italians, so on so on.
Please dont put all muslims into one basket as I, as an Australian, am offended by that.As for the rent, actually, that is a good question. As property investors this is our business. What does happen if something like this occurs?
what if Joe Smith down the road was arrested and sent to jail. If he was the only person in the property, who moves him out? how do you collect back rent?
I am interested if anyone has had this happen, and what the outcomes were.
cheers
ToniHi Misty1
I dont know of any questions you can ask but there are a few things to consider.
Have an idea in mind of what the property is worth.
Set a limit.
Dont get emotional over the property as you could end up paying too much.
Pick the best position to stand in so you can see the crowd. This is usually the spot to the left of the auctioneer, facing the crowd. The REA’s will not like you being there but you are able to see who is bidding. From the position you pick to stand, you should be able to see if a tree is bidding.
Practise a few times by going to auctions in your area, before you go to one that you would like to bid at.
If you stick to local auctions, you may start to reconise faces and from there, you may be able to pick a dummy bidder. (i.e a regular bidder that never seems to buy) This could just be a developer who walks away when the bid is over his perceived value of the property, or a dummy bidder.
It may or may not work as dummy bidders could be a friend of the owner unknown to the auctioneer.Hope this helps

Toniyou know what would be good is info for people new to property. I have just been speaking with a couple of young people who are interested in coming. One has just bought 1st property and the other is buying shortly. Maybe 1 section of basic stuff would be good as well. I have given them the address for the site as they have not been here yet.
ToniThere is no charge for the room. I dont know if we use it again.

ToniSo…………how many are coming?
[biggrin]the address is
7 Regent st Petersham
[strum]Hi All
Sorry been busy
Petersham has plenty of parking. Just dont forget to bring your licence as a form of identification. You must live outside 5k’s radius to get in but it is NOT a problem if you live next door as I can sign you in if you do live too close, so dont worry about that.
I am not sure if we can bring in biscuits dur to lcencing laws but I will find out.
There is a free show in the auditorium, starts at 2.30 I think if you get there early, go in and have a look.
Hi Mikala….no its still going!

Tonithanks. I will
