If you do decide to go with TPG or any ISP, where ever you go or choose to connect your ADSL, either be at home or somewhere else. Make sure the person telephone lins is a digital connection.
In doing so, as long as the person telephone line or where ever you connect, is Digital. Your laptop will recieve DSL connection. If not your DSL connection will not work.
In this case, you can either network your computer to an existing network and bridge off their internet access that is setup and configured.
If their is no network in place and no digital fone line available. You will be limited to a dialup connection.
Just make a quick note of these things, before travelling with your laptop, to ensure that there is service and access to a digital telephone line connection.
Just be very careful, in buyin property in Rockhampton in flood zone areas. Have looked at many, yet been discourage and turned off from purchasing properties in flood zone areas.
IMHO, be very careful buyin in particular areas of Qlds as many investors, or people new to the property game, are rushing and buying properties but also causing prices to rise, but also causing inflated prices due to massive amount of properties being purchased and taken off the market.
Yet at the same time, not allowing the actual property market in some areas to rise accordingly to the current market and people in that area can afford and service, which is within their threshold.
Another problem is, depending on how much cash you have and are able to subsidice, your are limited to the amount of -ve geared properties you can purchase, if the tables turn and your negative geared properties market value drops, you could be in some strife.
Having diversity, allows you to minimise and prepare/cater a safety net for such a position or risk taken.
Purchasing in both areas, is not bad and allows for diversity. If you are not planning to retire. It would better to use your +ve cashflow properties as a product of financial management.
In doing so, you can have more finance to control a larger volume of properties.
thats dam cheap, but the cheapest, ive seen was 13k sold this year. And the property was a brand new 2 bedroom brick home, used for flying in and out miners.
If you are going to purchase a property unseen, best to have a system in place that can carry out a proper yet very accurate due dillegence.
If not, be prepared for some stressful nights ahead, when you purchase a dud property, or a property that just wont rent, because, you were told this and that, but you werent told about one little tinnie problem that can make a person shriek and give countless sleeps of nights.
Through proper and careful due dillegence, there shoule be little or no stress to worry about.
thats also true, but lets say, if you were able to purchase properties at 105% finance and the property is still +ve cashflow on that arrangment. Then redrawing equity as a cash deposit (even if you have 100k equity availabe), to finance properties in this manner, would be better than using a $100,000.00 as your tying up cash money, rather than when you can use the banks money and still have your property, than having to sell it to have more funds.
Maybe you should get your husband to do that Risk Analysis Course, once doing that, you will look at risk from a differnet direction and your temptation will drive you to purchase more properties.
Have to agree with Richmond and Rubbachook, been lucky and have a few properties in that area. Though my partner was lucky to purchase a real big heap there in the last 5 years or so, since then many of the properties over a 5 year period have triple and quadripled even one of my partners properties have gone up over 5 times its orginal price, if purchased in the last 2 year period, prices have definietly doubled.
The cheapies (+ve cashflow) are very rare to come by now. yet many people are purchasing there at the wrong time and now are buying at the top of a boom just gone and that property prices are just begining to level out in the area.

This is a little off the topic of your thread, but interesing about how you talk about wages not being enough….(i have to agree here), different jobs, different positions and differnet levels of certification, can throw someones pay in all different levels of award wages and how much pay they should recieve.
One obstacle, that works for me is, the more broader qualifications you have, the more work will increase your pay, but with also saying that, the more broader qualifcations, you have the more jobs and positions are available to you.
Be very careful in getting too many qualifications, that are limited to one job, in doing so, you are only limited to one job, were if you were to lose your job, or your job was superseeded, you are only limited to what qualifications you have.
Getting broader qualifcations, you dont limit yourself to one postion, but also open up a new poition available to yourself, and limit the risk of being only qualified in one position.
You should be able to still connect anywhere as long as, your service provider deals in that area. Though if you do decide to go ahead with a DSL connection, you do have to remember it shares a telephone line. In which the signal used in a ADSL connection is digital, were as a normal dial-up connection is analogue.
Depending on how your home LAN is set up, you can either directly connect the internet through your home computer that is acting as a server. Or have the internt connected to a USB modem via USB Hub, were each node(computer) will be able to have its own direct access. Thus meaning just plug and play connections to the internet.
But if you are on the go, just purchase a WAP fone instead. Ideally you can send emails from your wap fone as litte as 10 cents from some Mobile Network Providers.
If you do, do live video conference and voice chatting, you be better off to get a minimal 256/64 kbps speed limit, but also if you are using broadband… you should get in place a firewall protection and some pop up and ad killers in place, spy sweepers, live virus scanning and other security protection utilities.
Just for statistical data. On my ADSL connection, have had 429,903 intrustion attempts stopped by firewall. 19,523 of them have been high rated attacks.
lol, wait till you see, what i use to get with my dial up connection,
lol seriously, was downloading an average of 11 gigs a month. These days, not sure how much, but on average burning 1 or so cds a day just to keep, plenty of hardrive space available.
lol.. Its all dam Kazaa and DivX fault for all those many downloads.
If you ever want a movie, just ask… can download and whip a copy up for you.
Im currently using TPG ADSL 256/64kbs for my Laptop. Not bad at all, getting the full speed as well.
They offer unlimited access and unlimited downloads for $69.95 a month.
And seriously, i download 24/7 hours a day (lots of movies, software, music LAN games)continously and since the connection, had no distrubtions or disconnections.
Have had Telstra Broadband Cable, with the 512kbs ($89.95 a month), problem is, only have a 3 gig limit and after that i encur charges.
Depends what you want, but ive found TPG ADSL, works great with the laptop.
