Now that Steve has made the ‘big time’ there will be many who will try to remove him from the ladder. Let’s just hope they don’t pass him when they are on the way down.
Good point!
There are always exceptions to the rule.
In buying land you would have differnt things to be aware of. Drought and floods are natures way of ‘airbrushing’ I guess.
I reckon this summer is also going to be a scorcher, but we can pray for rain. Once again this is just my opinion and not fact.
Still there are things you should be testing for before buying land. However, land is not my area of expertise, mores the pity.
I can’t say I was truly horrified at seeing the ‘airbrushed’ version of a property sans powerlines, meter boxes etc and then seeing the original in all its glory. If we can do it to models in a magazine and people buy them, then the realators are probably thinking why not do the same thing. It sells!!! It may not be completely ethical, but they could always argue that they are trying to help the buyer ‘visualize its potential'(regarding the property).
One of the things I mention quite a lot is about doing due diligence. Buying site unseen CAN be quite hazardous to your investing game plan, if you end up with an ‘airbrushed’ property. Very costly. Of course this isn’t always the case.
Yes, it would be nice to pin someone down regarding the stamp duty debate.
There are a lot of fishies in this tank (analogy only). Just be wary of the food chain . If your just starting out, play it close to your heart. Get advice, but know who to go to for advice or know how to ask for advice. I’ve made that mistake before.
I sure as hell wouldn’t swim up to a great white shark and ask for a band-aid!
I read the article by TR. Obviously ratings were down. Sensationalism does have a way of pulling in the crowds.
I think it’s important to note Steve, that you have made it to official ‘Tall Poppy’ Status and you could view this as a testement to all the hard work and all the good you’ve acomplished and achieved.
The analogy of a Hollywood star who gets both good and bad publicity, might be something you need to get used to. It’s hard to be prepared for people like TR ripping you down publicly, but as you’ve shown by your response your up to the task and handled it superbly.
Your integrity will shine through. All skeptics can take a hike. Your the real McCoy (umm McKnight!)
I forgot to mention that you can access tips on how to make your house more energy efficient from your local council. When you make your house more energy efficient, you lower your gas/electricity bills. An example of this is in summer to close the awnings on your windows (if you have them) or to close the blinds during the hotest part of the day. In winter, you can still do the same to cut out the draft etc. Thereby saving on cooling/heating costs.
Turning off the lights when you leave the room, or pulling up the blind rather than turning on the light.
I’m not sure where I saw this, but a mother living rurally, wrote a book on how to make things on the cheap and survive on a minimal budget. It may have been on ACA.
I’m renewing this post because I know there are many of you out there who have achieved and deserve a pat on the back. It would be nice if you could share with us. I’d love to read your achievements. Great post Pebbles! [^]
I read this posts with interest. It’s a novel idea to be sure, but you leave yourself very vunerable packed into a van with other punters and a salesman. When you’ve had enough sales pitch, you can’t just say “Stop over here I want to get out!” (well maybe you could dial for a taxi).
Since I have been ‘burnt’ (so-to-speak) by a number of marketing companies (I should mention here that NOT ALL marketing companies are of questionable integrity), I now know, that any information I want, I should be able to call the company and ask for WRITTEN information, prospectus (or whatever they like to call it nowadays) to be sent to me and I read the little lines (which usually call for a magnifying glass) at the bottom of the page first. I then ask for the website and if they don’t have one, I still do a search for the name of the company on the net. Sometimes you find something, sometimes you don’t. Just be careful.
There are plenty of teaching jobs available, so don’t feel to disheartened. Although, that’s an awful thing to happen.
I’m not sure what you teach, but if you want a good paying job, many Aussies are going to Japan to teach English. My cousin was one of them, not so long ago. Although be prepared to pay $15 AUD for an apple [] Maybe we are the lucky country !
Happy Father’s Day to all you Daddies out there! [8D]
What is on this week for property?
Today Tonight Monday 6:30pm Channel 7, staring our one and only Steve.
So you might have to tape ACA on Channel 9 which also has something on property at 6:30pm on Monday
Anyone want to let us know what’s on in their ‘neck of the woods’?
My reason for this link, is for you to see that there are good deals and usually well under 1K for you to go and check out a property before purchasing it. That <1K expense, might just save you thousands of dollars and a lot of heartache/sleepless nights later.
