Amongst my collection…
Wakelin’s “Street’s Ahead” and I loved
“Investing in Real Estate on a Budget” by Alan J Falkson (however this is out of print and so they’ve walked out of the libraries []) Heaps of information and really good advice and tips in that.
I keep falling asleep through Sommer’s books (sorry Jan) and it’s an awful feeling reading the same page over and over again and realising you still can’t remember what’s on the page you’ve read 30 times over. I need some more Ginko! []
I still like API and the Personal Investor magazines as well.

My Simon (2years on the 4.11.03) grabs hold of both my legs from behind and sticks his head between, so I can’t walk and If I try to twist and pick him up he runs through my legs. Sometimes he bites [}] (usually before he runs through my legs). That’s very embarrassing [], not to mention very sore, but I can’t rub it better without getting more strange looks []!

Does everyone get a local newspaper with the local property guide in it?
Anyway…
I’m not sure if everyone can get a copy of it, because in some areas it gets delieverd, seperate to your local paper, but it’s called Melbourne Weekly Magazine.
The link (which I’ll post at the ‘useful links’ post aswell) is http://www.melbourneweekly.com.au
This weeks topic was “The inside story on what’s happening in the local property market”.
Anyone seen my crystal ball, it’s seems to have rolled away again [?][?][?][:0)]

Sometimes the written word on computer is often misunderstood or ‘read’ incorrectly, purely because it doesn’t have the ‘voice’ or intonation behind it. So it’s easy not to understand what is a joke or what is meant as a joke.
Anyway, you can join my group, because I find it hard to get some jokes too! []
Arty’s cool, you can trust him too. He’s got a good sense of humour [:0)][]

I think what Billfromoz, said about the horse is getting to the crux of the matter.
When you ‘hurt’ bad enough, you’re motivated to change the way things are, into what they can be. Or let’s put an ambitious spin on things… If you are ‘thirsty’ enough,,,you WILL look for water. It’s the inbuilt survival chip.
In MY opinion, Steve’s book is an honest approach to how, when things ‘hurt’ for him, he DID something about it. Steve had setbacks too, but whilst reading one of my friends books (Falkson, Alan J. Investing in Real Estate on a Budget), something was made very clear… Anyone can do good things on a good day, it’s those people that can move on after having a bad morning, who can let go of the morning and make the afternoon successful, that’s the real test. That’s how one can change to outshine the rest.
I’ve read Steve’s book (minus pages 60-84 [][]). Has the climate changed?
Is there still positive cash flow properties? Will interest rates rise?
Well people, for then next 24 hours, I’m selling crystal balls for $30 each. Now I can’t guarantee you’ll get the answer your looking for, but I do know that if you spent 1 hour looking into the ball, you’ll have wasted 1 hour when you could have been out there searching for factual answers, rather than speculating on would be’s, could be’s and maybe’s.
(Please Don’t email me asking for a Crystal ball, I’m not really selling them..)[:0)]
We all choose why we don’t do things that could change our lives. No matter how many tools are in your toolshed, if you don’t use them, they’re worth very little.
The onus isn’t on Steve, who’s just given us a tool, it’s on us, to use the tool to get the job done.
If you don’t want to do it Steve’s way, that’s your choice too. Best of luck with whatever path you choose! (By the way, in all my travels, I’ve never heard of a perfect road before!)
Every book has it’s good and bad points. For me, If I can make it through the first 7 pages without falling asleep, then it’s a book worth reading. [][]
This isn’t a critisism of anyone’s post, just my 10 minutes worth.
By the way, I must have been on a different planet when this was explained, but what is this saying

Without hopping into a domestic here [] Might I just add that practising is free and incurs no stamp duty, requires no renovation (both of the female body and/or the extra bungalow) and, I can’t believe I’m saying this, being a Midwife and all, but it’s also a cheaper to get a rat! I think they were having a joke on you. Poor thing! I hope you keep a sense of humour about it.
My Malay-Chinese friends had one hell of a time learning English. I used to edit some of my friends ESL essays and “Fracturation” = “Fraction” (maths reference). I used to get asked “What’s Oki-Doki animal?”.
Ahh…those where the good ole days’

I reckon it relates to the ‘Ego’. I think the majority of children know that mum and dad love them, and if they do something naughty, that’s okay, because mum and dad still love me.
Almost like falling off a tightrope, knowing there is a big air filled mattress to break the fall.
Alas, with strangers, they do things to gain approval and to look good in other people’s eyes. Mum and dad might love them, but the real test to see how ‘special’ they are is if they can convince another person how well behaved or how sweet or cute they are.
Peer pressure (for good things) also works well, so I’m told.
What do you think?

Has anyone felt that doing Reno’s on children over 7 is very difficult?
My boys aren’t that age yet…
but I was always told
“The way you are at 7 is the way you’ll be at 70”
(I think this saying is in the same thread as ‘ A leapord can’t change it’s spots’)
I don’t these statements are always true, what do you think?
BTW, I don’t think I could LO or wrap my child. It would be kind of looking at a ‘Faberge Egg’ sitting in a glass cabinet. I prefer the hands on approach, with plenty of hugs and kisses. []

I won’t mention the details…especially not so close to dinner time, but when I was working at MMC as a Recovery nurse…
Scene…
Post surgery for elderly gent with gastric- bowel obstruction. I was there when it happened and as a post-graduate nurse (only 3 months out of Uni) they left me to clean up, by myself.
It’s true, nurses need guts of steel, but we still have our weaknesses and that day, each one of them happened in the gallons, literally.
Uggh!

LOL!!!
It’s easy peasy getting someone elses child to bed, in fact when I was in one of the various mother-and-baby units, whilst all the mothercraft nurses were TRYING to get my boys to bed, I went and helped the other mothers. By the time they got my 2 off to bed, I’d settled nearly half of the babies in the Queen Elizabeth Centre!
What I didn’t know then, but I do now, is that some children with Autism have severe settling issues in infancy. When I found that out, it explained a lot, especially why my boys liked to be tightly wrapped up to 12 months.
How many babies get thrown out of a nursery? Anyway it was a good learning experience having had these issues, puts things in perspective.

LOL!!! All of a sudden Pinky has gone quiet []
As a midwife I always negatively gear my babies. I always have to give them back at the end of the shift. Now, this ensures the parents get all the capital growth, plus depreciation of ALL household items. Works out well for me, and most parents must fair pretty well out of the deal, because they usually come back for more.
As a parent, my children are positively geared. Positively geared to eat breakfast, to go to school, to read books, to behave nicely etc. It’s a lot of hard work for them and sometimes they get tired, so at times they can be neutrally geared, with a video in front of the t.v.
I think for the most part, they are a buy and hold stratergy [][]
