Hi all, we have taken 10mths to finally choose a builder following disasters with building with Metricon (the guy who said you are better protected with big builders-think again; we had our lawyer go over the contract and found a clause that voided our guarantee and had to get them to take it out before we signed it-yes, they'll try) and recently pulled out of our contract with Henley due to arrogance, bad manners, inflexibility and an overall "give us ALL your money" attitude.
We got a sales man from NBG who had no idea and gave wrong info but he is no longer there and the company has been great since and tried to make it up to us. They are flexible and honest so far and we are beginning to feel excited about the new house which is unusual for us given our past experiences! We have met the builder who will build our home on site prior to signing which has been great. So far so good…..they have been flexible with the changes we've wanted to make and have priced those reasonably. Metricon had refused to allow us to move a plaster wall and said the opening wouldn't be big enough even though it was the same size as a standard door…their reasoning was "what if you sell the house to a fat person one day and they can't get through the door"….No kidding, honest truth. We should have known from that moment…..
We're hoping NBG will be good to build with, most builders are good until you sign on the dotted line, although Henley didn't even manage that!
If you have any questions about our process so far I'd be happy to help.

Hi we don't have the name of the builder yet; not at that stage. What really matters to me is their process so that I'm not left chasing a builder for bad quality work and that the company will stand by its product, regardless of who built it. So far if I go by the comments on this forum its not looking too good……..
