Nice article.
Regards,
SiI agree JP but I think Chan also has a point is that we shouldn’t concentrate on our obstacles but rather on a way around them.

SiNeil,
I think you make a valid point, but even if we are all newbies having a group to bounce ideas off is still invaluable.Regards,
SiNice calculator. I got a little confused initially, but once familiar it is excellent.

SiAnother option is too borrow money from family for a deposit. If you have the sort of relationship with your family with this would be a comfortable option, a bank loan would be cheaper that being a ‘wrapee’.

SiCant we all just have a group hug and sing ‘kum by yah’?

Nice post. Very nice, indeed.Regards,
SiI agree. In any field, it helps to be think right around a topic. Ed de Bono has a good method of making sure a topic is looked at from all angles. Guru’s often discourage this kind of thing by telling you they’ve found something ‘new’. The fundamentals have been the same since the first day of creation. ‘The Millionaire Next Door’ is a good book that reveals just where the millionaires are. They’re the quiet guys over the fence, not the guru in the flash car.

SiWhat other sort of cashflow options are you looking at Melbear?

SiI agree with castledreamer. I think if you have a company set up with the express intent of investing in property the trip is clearly a business expense. As to proving it your accountant will know what is required.

SiI agree with George. If there’s any problem its probably related to the way your finances are structured. As George said, you can borrow against your house to do whatever you like.

SiI’d also be keen.

SiDoes ‘spotting’ mean only signing the contract and then giving it to someone else for a fee, or does it include pointing people toward a property for a fee also?

SiHi Broche,
I think you’re on the right track. A lot of research is essential. As a way to refine your search for areas to invest, I’ve heard of people using rules such as, ‘never in a town with a population less than 20,000’, or, ‘must be at least two local industries’, or, ‘must not be in population decline’ etc. Perhaps if you formulated such rules for yourself it would expediate your research.Regards,
SiI think Mr Carr is onto something good. Ive just returned from an NZ holiday and seeing a country so lush and beautiful (as our wonderful continent seems to be devoid of any moistre currently) certainly made me hungry for more. I dont know where his property is, but a quick look at it might reveal there was no way he could have sensibly bought it for investment purposes.

SiThanks George,
Much appreciated.Regards,
