    Thanks C2 for sharing that info. I'll definitely be checking and re-checking all my insurance renewals from now on.

    Sapphire, you definitely put a smile on my face with your reply. I've actually decided that I was getting worried about nothing and so I've gone ahead with the purchase. I settle in 6 weeks and because I'm family I have immediate access to the house to do a quick reno so hopefully I would get tenants in from day 1.

    My parents recently built their custom-design home with Wincrest Homes (also in the St George area). Overall they are pretty happy with the quality and customer service. They were also pretty accommodating in terms of making changes to the design. The whole building process could have been more straightforward but they did complete construction well inside the contracted time. My advice is to read and re-read all the fine print until you fully understand every clause in the contract. You should also check any upgrades and make sure that they are written into the contract.

    I'm hoping to use the cash to buy 1-2 properties in the next 12 months.
