check the general layout of the house (ie are bedrooms towards the rear of the house away from the road) and check the noise levels in any rooms/areas directly facing the road. Worse problems will be in summer when windows need to be left open for ventilation etc, maybe air con unit can help here.  A properly designed house on a relatively busy road does nto necessariily noise levels will be an issue.

    Thanks for the tips,

yes we have to put down an acoustic mat in accordance with Body Corporate. We are going for a click together flooring and hopefully this will be installed in the next 2 weeks

    Hi Salil

We are currently fixing up our apartment of the same size. The raw materials will cost you in the order of:

The paint and materials (brushes, rollers, sugar soap, sponges etc – $550
Laminate wood flooring and acoustic underlay $2400

I would probably allow for 5 days handyman hire to paint and lay the laminate. We did the painting our selves over a few weeks ahah. We will be getting someone to put the flooring down and this will likely be about $1800 for labour.

If you plan to rent the apartment out maybe consider laminate flooring over the real wood floor as it is cheaper, and more durable.

And after all that looks like i didnt answer your question hah.

    cheers

    Ok thanks Ian,

we are currently living in the apartment and plan to for another year or 2 before we turn it in to a rental. I have looked at the Ikea laminates, some are good. We are currently looking at the range Floorbrokers Australia has.  I think we will get someone to lay it for us, and if anyone can recommend anyone on Brisbane this would be great.

    cheers
