Christmas day was 43 degrees too!

Property market going up steadily. Actually, come to think of it, I think it is actually levelling out a little.

Yeah, I love the heat over cold any day too, but having a house that is cooler would be lovely too. We have no air con and the only insulation we have is over the loungeroom. Doesn’t do stuff all!!

Oh well. The water spray bottle and the fan will have to do!

It’s possible the price hike is going to be inline with the costs of materials. My husband (a cabinetmaker with links in other trades) has been advised that the cost of building materials over the next year is going to increase by something stupid like 30-100%. The main reason, all the steel is going to China causing a shortfall in supply here in Aus.

Beautiful isn’t it? I live in a state that produces a hell of a lot of steel and we can’t even get a reasonable price on it! Same goes for gas. Chinese are buying it for 2c a litre, we pay (in Geraldton) 65c a litre. Fair? I THINK NOT!!!

What I am trying to say, is that they may be compensating for the up coming price rises. IE, covering his arse so it doesn’t eat into his profits. I mean really, he is running a business to make money.

    Live and love.

I s’pose it is just one of those law things. You don’t have the paper, you can’t change your name.

3 years later and I have found a super fund from when I was in retail many years ago and it’s in my maiden name!! So, now I have to go and change it from Versace to Cremin all over again…. I have to fax that silly bit of paper again… Sigh…

Onya Simon! Exactly Rob. Don’t get married if all you believe it is is a piece of paper. To me, I believe it is something much much more deeper than that.

It is a solemn commitment to someone that you will give your heart and soul to make that person happy so that you will be in turn happy too. We have had the situation we haven’t been happy and we’ve had to assess whether it is the circumstances we’re in, or whether it was something one of us were doing to annoy the other. Most often enough it is both, but that’s when we make a plan to how we can change it.

Like everything, time is the critical factor. If you can’t find time for the person you love, forget property investing. It is pointless if you’ve lost the person you love.

    It’s all balance.

Karl, you hit the nail on the head!! That is why (I believe) so many relationships break down. THe idea of unconditional love is dying a little. YET, there are people out there who have realised to make someone else happy, effort is required.

I have to admit, the past week I haven’t made much of an effort so I need to make it up big time, but I fully believe marriage is alive and kicking.

My parents have been married in excess of 30 years, so has hubby’s parents. Most of our friends parents are still together after 30+ years too! You are what you surround yourself with.

Just like investing, you need to surround yourself with likeminded people. It broke my heart, but one of my best friends I just could not bring myself to invite to my wedding because she was so anti-men at that time in her life that I couldn’t cope with it. Sad, I know and I have felt like crap ever since, but I stand by my decision as it has so far been the happiest day of my life.

Also the problem with so many people these days is they go LOOKING for their mate. If they just relaxed, enjoyed themselves and let others see them as their natural selves, that is more likely to attract the right person than to be on the prowl all the time. The type of person you think is right for you, more often enough isn’t. (Dashing young lawyer versus a tradesman, the hooha of the lawyer might last for a little while, but the down to earth nature of the tradesman might get you even more… I know mine did!)

Thanks woodsman. Makes total sense now.

Really, the agent or previous owner has an obligation to tell you about the easement don’t they?

I wonder what the repurcussions would be if they didn’t? Would there be any? Or would that be considered part of your due diligence?

It’s just time Michael. Think of it this way, if you can’t make time for your wife now… how will you make time when you have children.

I have been told that the most balanced children are the ones whose parents display thier love and care for each other. But it takes time. I see it as an investment for a happier future.

Now, if only I could keep the house clean… Sigh… Can’t win them all…

Oh WTBnow, I am in talks with Homeswest now about a divinding fence. Their tenants took to it with a hammer and maliciously damaged it and they want MY insurance details. I told them to get knotted and I wasn’t paying a cent for their damage.

The stupid thing is that only one sheet is damaged, so it would be quicker to fix one sheet than have me complain more and get the whole fence replaced!!

Rob you weren’t Kramer from Seinfeld were you???

What a crap judge! That is blatant discrimination. Good on you Rob for following through to getting him off the bench. They are the sorts of judges we don’t need in this country.

My brother is having hassels at the moment as he was in a car accident and now his insurance people are not wanting to pay up anymore even though he goes to physio 4 times a week and the chiropractor at least 1 a week.

It’s a shame that people who really do get hurt can’t be helped coz of the scum who do rort the system. The disgusting thing is that he may not be able to pick up his child which is due in a few weeks. I don’t think I would wish that on anyone!

It really gets down to whether you are comfortable blowing $25K on an awesome life experience or like everyone else is saying, buy a couple of places.

Alexlee has a great idea. Buy a couple of IP’s, find a realy good manager for them, get a family member to be a power of attorney for you and then use a couple of grand spare to go to UK and have a working holiday. You are still delaying your gratification a little by having to work before you can travel more, but at the same time, you have invested most of your money.

If you find somewhere cheap to live, there is no reason why you couldn’t do it! We managed to pay off $20K worth of debt and save $15K when we were working overseas. IT was hard biut we wouldn’t be in the position we are in now!

We don’thave children yet, but when we had to be serious about budgeting (We were saving for a holiday round the world, we saved enough in six months!! So it works!), we planned exactly what we were going to eat with a 2 week food roster.

Admittedly it can be rather boring eating the same food, but we also found that the extra money it freed up was enormous! Just because we set ourselves a specific menuand stuck to it, I reckon we saved $80 a week on luxury foods.

Keeping a money diary helps. Write down EVERYTHING you buy and then see if there are some things you can eliminate to help make it easier. Things like buying your lunch everyday or that coffee everyday add up to a surprising amount of money.

My parents can say they did it, as there are 4 children in our family. We all went to private CAtholic schools (Parents choice), and we ate well. The funny thing was my parents still managed to buy a investment property, move my grandmother over from Brisbane and support us on a measly $13 000 a year! That was back in the early ’90s and I know that coz I used to watch dad do his tax returns…

I think I grew up better for it coz we appreciated what we had and didn’t take it forgranted.

    Good luck.

Just an update from last night… NO it isn’t lewd or racey!

So the nice things we did for each other yesterday was I cooked Paul breakfast in bed, he gave me a top to toe massage. I fell asleep it was so good! Had a beaut night sleep too!

So just remember all you love birds, buying something becuase you’ve forgotten is the weakest excuse. Try doing something nice for your partner instead and see what rewards you get…
