George, no-one is going to tell you were to look coz they will be looking in that area themselves. It is up to you to troll the internet for properties! there are lots of opportunities in WA, you just gotta find them.

    Kelly,
it isn’t in those bloody awful blocks down on Tranby-on-Swan is it?

Some of the units in Maylands are brilliant, others are blomin awful!

I don’t know that the units would be cash positive. I did a lot of research in Maylands about a year ago and the rental returns were not that brilliant. THe standard of tenant could be questioned too. (I used to work for telstra and had to do a lot of the phone connections in that area…Dodgy dodgy people).

Then again, it may have all changed whilst I have been away. Be careful with the council too, as Maylands is now under the City of Bayswater and they can’t seem to make up their mind with what is happening in Maylands. I would be very careful with you figures and go there at night to really get the feeling of the area.

P.S. What I have said here is purely my own experience and should not put anyone off from checking it out, naturally.

Nice one George. I really like that one too. Sounds like me at the moment. Wondering if there really is something there for me. Sorry, going through a bad phase at the moment. [xx(]

Yeah I know doogs, but the UK kids love it… Don’t worry about your daughter and her name. People will soon figure it out. Names here in uk are much more far out and even more obscure with their spelling, believe me.

Doogs, I was taught that one at uni! Ghoti! I teach it to children as well so they realise that not all words are spelt phonetically…

Did you know that stickin gyour two fingers up to someone to be rude goes all the way back to Norman times??!!! That is around 900ad.

The story. Well the normans were fighting the french and the Normans used to use the big long bows that used the index and middle finger. Now if some long bowmen were captured, instead of killing them, the french cut off those two fingers and sent them back to their barracks to show the others.

Now, in one of the battles (can’t remember which one…) the Normans were actually beating the french for once and to stick up to them they waved their two fingetrs in the air as if to say “Up yours, I stil have my two fingers…”

It’s not a joke, but a really useles piece of trivia I am sure someone will find fascinating.[:0)]

Basically marilyn, you take £100K and convert it to aussie dollars, you get $240K. You can do a lot more with $240K in Australia than £100K in UK.

Prices of houses here in Uk are absolutely ridiculous and the investors are looking outside Europe for the lifestyle and the returns.

LEgally, Uk residents can get an appropriate visa to live in Aus for 6 months of the year. And many of them can and do.

So there you go. If you had £100K wouldn’t you rather invest it somewhere where it gets you mroe for your money?

NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!!
Not if your family are money obsessed WAN^erS like someone I know. The implications are not worth even contemplating. SOunds like you enjoy a good relationship with your family and I suggest to keep that, have nothing to do with their financial situation other than helping on the odd occassion. Wrapping your family could well, suffocate them. Hee hee, I mean that literally too coz they will see how muchmoney you make out of them and get resentful of that.

I haven’t had any personal experiences, but have seen many friends relationships with family go seriously sour coz of money.

    It isn’t worth it!

Yeah you tell him Mini!!! Kick his Ar*e!!! Cremin and I are hopefully gonna go the same way as you and look to the scum suckers at the bottom of the pond as long as they are structurally sound and will make money!! A bit of hard work never killed anyone.

Mini, you have been an inspiration for many of us on the forum and I don’t even consider holding BB’s comments in my mind. Your stories and anecdotes helps us learn through you and I personally value that. So please don’t stop telling us your stories coz it would be a loss.

    Cheers

    Fullout,
Haveyou checked that the furniture complies with fire standards? Eg, a couch that has a fire retardant in it etc etc… I heard a horror storey of someone that bought a house fully furnished and coz the furniture was so old it didn’t come up to “tenant” standard and he had to get rid of the whole lot and buy a whole heap more! Check out fire regulations to make sure the furniture will pass.

I think the only good thing about home DIYers, is that when they cock it up, it will decrease the value of the house waiting for people like Cremin and I to snap it up!! Woohoo! I am sure there are tonnes of people out there living in a DIY nightmare just wanting to get out of it quickly. Hopefully we shall be able to find them… Hee hee hee..(Evil little laugh…)

Hey Slatz you think DIY shows in Aus are bad, HA!. You should see the pommy shows over here. I don’t think one person on any of the shows has the faintest idea what they are doing and how pathetically transparent they are, especially to some-one in the trade such as myself.
For example The weakest link had a celebrity night, the chippie off one of the shows was asked “What is a common building material starting with T?” Did he answer “timber”, NO!, the moron passed.
Another carpenter off a different show was in the paper the other day cos he has totally gutted his house (with historical value mind you) and altered, renovated and extended it. Did he get council permission? NO!.
    Absolutely pathetic!
Good for a laugh and learning how to decrease the value of your property but thats about it.

Well, “advice” tends to give the impression that I can hold you to your word and we are here to help each other that’s all. I will take what you say and hopefully it will work for me, but I will use it to how it suits my situation, so I think it is more help… anyway that nitpicky on my part…

I am still unsure though what could happen if I go home and don’t have a job straight away or get a job and appply for a loan straight away. Surely it would work against me?

    THanks for comments so far.

I am just so pleased I found this information as Cremin and I go to most free seminars coz ther are well, FRee. But we will keep HK in mind and not go to his.

Talking about seminars, we went to one a few weeks back with a mob here in London just to see if they had any new strategies, but sure enough it was your hard sell bit etc etc.

We stayed until lunchtime and then got OUT OF THERE! Dunno, just didn’t feel right being there so we went with our gut instincts and scrammed. The funniest thing was I received a phonecall last night asking why We didn;t stay and why we didn;t ask questions.

I was quite shocked coz most people cant get through on our home number coz we always on the net, but this guy has obviously persisted for quite a few weeks to get through. I felt a ilttle put out by him asking why and actually felt a little scared coz I was home alone and it was 9pm when he rang! I was invited to go to another seminar but I wont be going as they have nothing new to tell us!

    GGRRRRR, just makes me angry.
