From what I understand of freehold and leasehold is that freehold means the land is yours and you have right over it to a certain extent. For example, if you were digging a hole and you struck oil, your land is then classified crown land and the government compensate you for your land and you have no claim over the oil.Same goes for gold or any other precious resource. Oh yeah, freehold properties are bound by local council restrictions.
Leasehold is like renting a house for your business. You can do almost anything with the inside of the place but you still have to do what the owner wants. I just hope we don’t go along the same lines as the UK where there a lots of houses you buy but they are on a leasehold. That means you can do whatever you like to the house but the lease has a time period on which you can renew after that or buy the freehold title to it, which usually costs and arm and a leg!
That is what I can gather from what my parents have told me and other peoples experiences.
Cheers
Steph.
“Attention please shoppers, just a reminder to avoid aisle 4 temporarily as Arty has wet himself after receiving a womans scorn…[!] Muppet, can you please attend with the all important mop to clean the scene.”
*Muppet frantically runs with a mop and slips taking a can mountain of tomato soup tumbling down the aisle*
*Arty sits with his head in his hands…Why oh why did he not just admit he was wrong….*
Am nursing a hangover at the moment and have been hugging the s-bend for a little while so feeling on the slight dodgy side… SHould be ok by the time I fly out.
I see on the askted website it forecast to rain for the next four days!! Is that right??? Miserable miserable miserable…. Oh well… can only get better, right?
Zip-a-dee doo da zip-a-dee day, my oh my what a wonderful day! Plenty of smog and cloud coming my way (London that is…) Zip-a-dee do da zip-a-de day!
MR Kingfisher on my shoulder, its the truth, it’s actual, everything is satisfactual…. Well nearly…
Fullout,
I remember my dad saying a few years ago that the bank holds all property title paperwork until the loan is paid out. I think he said he gets a copy of it but they hang on to it.
At least you know it is safe! I could be wrong and my memory hazy but someone else can tell me I am wrong. I don’t mind. [:X]
Steph.
Jason, unless you have specifically spoken to the people, DO NOT GIVE OUT THEIR DETAILS!!!
It is strictly a privacy thing and it will cost you probably everything you own if you do. I sounds like a brilliant idea but I can tell you now, I wouldn’t want my details passed on to someone and taken advantage of just because of my financial situation.
I worked in the telecommunications industry which has quite strict privacy laws, I can assume banks are the same.
Wouldn’t you feel awful if the banks client was absolutely raped of their property for a pathetic price just because of their cicumstances? I know I wouldn’t sleep at night.
That’s my two sense. Great idea, bad for litigation and possible outcomes….

Steph
Chrissos, I am hell curious too. I wanna know how people buy properties with no job seeing as I will not have one very shortly….
Steph.
P.S: hopefully I will as soon as I get back.
Dear oh dear oh deah tas investor..you poor lost sole. Hobart!! Now you are clutching at straws my love!
Patricia,
I found I was going nuts with all the marking here as well. Particularly seeing as my head of year loved work sheets and drowned the poor little darlings in paper… I never got round to marking lots of stuff. I kept the main sheets in their files and ditched the rest….Good teaching practise isn’t it??? NOT!!!
I am so looking forward to teaching in a real school where you can tailor your classes to the kids needs. Oh well.
Well, here goes. I gave it one last go and low and behold the british government basically gave me and cremin the two finger salute. The funny hting is they kept telling me that my application was “Being considered” but when I received my passport back it had been stamped back on the 13th of August and only needed a date on teh stamp to validate it. They were just being pompous pricks justifying their jobs by pushing paper a little further and from one department to the other so it looks like they are working. YOu want to know the hilarious thing? I rang today to check where all my documents were so I could seem all knowledgeable and that way it wouldn’t take so long to pick up…Well that was dumb coz the time it took me to catch the tram to Croydon and wait in line, our passports had magically picked themselves up and not only changed departments…THEY HAD CHANGED BUILDINGS!!!! How’s that for a rort? I waited for 6 hours at the home office to pick up my passports. You didn’t read wrong. 6 HOURS!!! Ridiculous or what!!!
So I am heading home on Monday or Tuesday and Cremin will come home in about three of four weeks time.
Yay! I get to see my little doggy! I can’t wait to see the little mongrel. Oh yeah my family too… They come into the picture eventually too.
So there you go people. The Uk odessey is over, the strange late night replies form me will cease as I will now be vaguely in the same time zone as you lot. Well, once daylight savings kicks in it wil get wierd again… Hee hee.
ANyway, looking forward to perhaps meeting some of your Sandgropers.
Cheers everyone for your support and I will keep you posted about any developments along the way.
Steph.
I am so undecided at the moment it isn’t funny. I am certain I want to go home and I know it feels right and everything like that, I am shocked that I really would be leaving.
I am going to give it one more go tomorrow to look for a cash in hand job. So that way at least we still go home at XMas time… My friend has even offered us free rent just so we stay! How’s that for a mate???
Prop, it is ok. THat sometimes happens to me. I just recently defragged my hard drive and that seems to help.
Go to your start menu, then all programs, accessories, system tools and then do disc clean up first then do a defragment on your hard drive. It tidies up all the loose files on your computer and gets rid of unused ones so your computer runs better.
Well, I thought I would update you all on our situation here in London. Well it is nearly official that we are coming home.
Me first I think and then Cremin in a few weeks time. Quite upset about it all coz I thought we would come home with more money but at least now I can see my family!!!
Immigration here are pathetic losers who do not know what hard work is! I am so frustrated…. Anyway, so that’s my news. Not set in stone, but pretty certain… Ho hum.
Hee hee, sorry. Just went and saw The HArd Word at the flicks. Got my dose of Aussie slang and loving it. Shame I have to go back to the pommy voices tomorrow… Ho hum… Sandy beaches…Not far off now…
Steph.
