My in-laws told us about the NAB’s pro thingy. She is a very qualified and high ranking nurse and she questioned the wording that the pro products were available to ppl with university degrees and it did not include nurses.Being the forceful person she is, she pointed out that the nursing profession is one studied at university and seeing the products are offered to “Professionals” there shouldn’t be a problem. THey let her have that particular loan.
SHe told me about it and said for me to force the issue as their wording of “Professionals” didn’t include nurses or teachers. Funnily enough, it includes university lecturers but not normal teachers… Ho hum…[confused2]

Hate to tell you Baloo, but I have actually heard of a situation like that. The world is wierd and there is probably tonnes more stories just like this. No need to be negative when Geo was just trying to share a message.
Just thought I would add to the discussion… A few years ago when I was on my 10 week final prac for teaching, we did a health bit about soft drinks with year sevens.
We found out that one can of coke has at least 13 teaspoons of sugar. One of those Red bull drinks has more than that plus enough caffeine in them to equate to nearly two coffees.
Oh… also if you want to think about something else that is wierd… that bread the “lasts” longer in the pantry (Around 7 days), my mate reckons as soon as it was brought on the market, within a week, behavioural problems in her school went through the roof. THe only thing she could put it down to was more than likely the additives in the bread to keep it ‘fresh’….
Yuck… Food for thought eh? (Pardon the pun)

Agreed that racial comments shouldn’t be made but how does anyone know what race you are anyway out of curiosity?
I would leave the moderation bit for awhile. Some people may get away with more for unknown reasons but if you just let it lie it may stop happening. It is good to see you wanting to move on.
I enjoy reading everyones posts but the friction bit gets a little tedious.

Ummm… This may sound silly and again raise alarm bells… But could you not have your mum sell you the house for $1?
Many years ago, when my nanna moved to Bribie Island, she didn’t have the money and was too old to get a home loan. My dad (Her son-in-law) bought a house for her and then in a few years time after she had paid most of it off, he sold it to her for $1. THe rest of the money was handed over as a “gift”.
What implications would doing that have today? (Not taking into account other family members)

I tell you what… It will certainly make ppl think about the use of their car and if they actually NEED it…
Cremin and I survived with one car for many years and if a push like that comes along, I am sure we would survive again with the one car again. I have no problem using public transport or using good ol’ leg power. It can be a pain, but ppl learn to be a bit more simplistic about what they actually do need a car for.
It would put a great deal more pressure on the state governments to pull their fingers out in regards to making public transport more accessible for all.
It will be interesting to watch to say the least….

Hee heee.. to add to my post, we rented in the ritziest suburb of PErth (Dalkeith) in amongst big ol’ mansions in the crappiest student house in the area.($67.50 p/w) Excellent memories especially the neighbours pool late at night whilst very drunk…. Bog laps around Circe circle, huge parties…Sigh… the good ol’ days….

ohhh…the dreaded piece of plastic… Yep, very guilty of using that too… Now hubby and I have both agreed only absolute necessecities on credit card and no buying things we don’t need with plastic.
We can use the ATM card, but not put it on credit. Has worked ok so far….

My dad went cold turkey on my eighth birthday and hasn’t picked up a ciggie since. I remember him being very testy at first and really sh*tty when we used to pinch sticks of gum off him, but he was a great deal healthier after quitting.
Only probs is now 18 years on he has developed a suspicious cough and it petrified about visiting hte doctor for fear of what they might find…. It doesn’t help that my aunty has just had half her lung chopped out coz of lung cancer…
Poor ol’ dad… I hope he goes to the doctors soon….

Just about to settle on our first house!! Not new, but it has ahd the tenants from hell in there…. Locks are getting changed first thing!!!
Oh, think I am being a bit rough. Maybe not tenants from hell, but they were really grotty with crap everywhere!!Anyone with tips for established houses??? Taking hairdryer to inspection plus the bucket is a great idea. Maybe I’ll sneak a hose in too to house the roof in case of leaks…

THat’s a really lovely thing for you to have done.
It is sad that there are lots of people out there who are just takers their whole life and get away with it. It’s nice to see there are still people like you in the world still around.
I would give you the same status I give my parents… VERY HIGH ON MY SCALE OF THInGS!!! They give a lot to people around them too and I hope that I will follow in their footsteps too. How can people live their lives knowing that someone close to you need your help???

We lived in a joint that 13-15 maybe 16 people inhabited on a regular basis… My personal hell and 5 weeks of my life I totally wish to erase…
Bloke on top floor was dealing all sorts and ppl were coming and going at all hours of the day/night… Door was always firmly locked…Shudder…[eh][crying]
But… to answer the question..Cremin and I are still renting and are about to get into our first place… Only for a couple of years then maybe back to renting…

All is correct about lower rents, but then again, the demand is quite high for ‘good’ rentals. What I mean by that is in areas that are a bit better.
They are still flushing out a few suburbs of the homeswest housing…
