ryan mclean replied to the topic Empty block of Land vs. House in the forum General Property 14 years, 8 months ago
You know, if you buy a house it comes with the land as well? That way you will still own a block of land, but as the years go on the people renting your property will pay for it, instead of you having to pay for it.
If you are just starting out it might be a good idea to buy something that has some sort of cash flow. In 10 years rents will go up…[Read more]

We got a great couch from Fantastic Furniture. A 3 seater with a chase for just $700.
Your best bet is not those warehouses but Ebay. There is loads of preloved furniture on ebay and most of it is really cheap.
My mother in law is redecorating her whole house and she is buying most of her stuff of Ebay. It is GREAT stuff and we go a table and 4…[Read more]

The 4-Hour Work Week is an AMAZING book and I loved it.
I wasn’t a huge fan of the Real Book of Real Estate though. I found the stories in it irrelevant to where I was at and so I couldn’t learn much that I could apply. One of my favourite books about business that I just read is Richard Branson’s book “Losing My Virginity”.
Again not…[Read more]
ryan mclean replied to the topic Investing in Australia? Any particular “Real Estate GURU” seem to have a handle on it? in the forum Heads Up! 14 years, 8 months ago
Yeh Steve’s books are specific to Australia and would make a good start. I have also read almost all of Margaret Lomas’ books and they are pretty good too.
I have found though that the best way to learn is by doing. I have learned so much about trusts, building and pest inspections, contracts, bank loans and other due diligence and purchasing…[Read more]

@ Jebro – I am thinking of starting my own meeting in Sydney. Just wondering how you promote your meetings and how many people come to them?
Do you just use this forum? Or do you market it in other ways as well?
ryan mclean replied to the topic Perth Networking Group (WAIP) Meeting Wed March 17th. All Welcome. in the forum Heads Up! 14 years, 8 months ago
That sounds awesome!!! Wish I lived in Perth so I could go.
I would love to hear an update on how it went.
Also how do you promote an event like this? Do you JUST use this forum to promote it? Or do you use other promotion methods as well.

Man this thread went on a huge tangent from the bootcamp.
I want to know if anyone has done a course like this before and whether they thought it was worthwhile?
ryan mclean replied to the topic Dymphna Boholt real estate investiment course in the forum Heads Up! 14 years, 8 months ago
I haven’t done her course, but I have been to a one day seminar with her. It was a free seminar where she was pitching her mentoring program.
It looks pretty legit. If I could afford to do it I wouldn’t because I would use the money for Steve’s R.E.S.U.L.T.S program instead. Just a personal opinion there.
The lady is legit, if you can afford it…[Read more]

I don’t think charging people a small fee is a huge crime. Yes you can get it for free, you can get almost anything on the internet for free.
But if someone takes the time to the organise it and present it in a way that is easy for the everyday person to access and they decide to charge for that…then so what.
A friend of mine took free…[Read more]

@ DWolfe – I am enjoying myself on this forum, and thus I like to make comments on everything.
By making comments the forum lets me know when an update occurs in a thread, so I can stay in on the conversation.
ps. I see your comments everywhere too
ryan mclean replied to the topic ABC Radio Brisbane Podcast – Property overvaluation in the forum I don’t think property 14 years, 8 months ago
I don’t think property prices are that far over valued. I think if the government was to remove the negative gearing advantages then yes, we might see a decline in the price of property. But other than that I don’t think much could happen that would decrease properties by 40-50%

Hey Snowy,
I am considering running one in Sydney focusing on investing in positive cash flow real estate.
Just wondering how you built yours up. How did you get 29 people to show up? Is this forum the only way you marketed it or was there other methods you used?
Any feedback would be much appreciated.

How did the meeting go? Did many people come?
ryan mclean replied to the topic Where the Australian Property market is heading in the forum Heads Up! 14 years, 8 months ago
I think they are going to go up.
Population growth vs. available housing is getting more and more out of hand. We already have too many people and not enough housing and this problem will only get worse.
They are not making any more land either, so as more people come to Australia there will be more demand for land and thus prices will…[Read more]

What is the advantage of using your service over any other service?
Is it cheaper?
Do you deliver all over Australia? Why should I choose you over your competitors?
I am not asking this to be rude, I am seriously interested as I am in the process of doing some minor renovations and need supplies. I just want to know what makes you the best.

It is a good site. From what I can see it looks like a blog that will be regularly updated. Is this correct?
Unfortunately the information is too general to be of use to me, and I believe that may be the case for many other users as well. I would be interested to know what other people think.

Maybe try and sell them on Ebay…there doesn’t seem to be a lot of interest on here for them at the moment.
