I would agree Marisa except after living in Sydney for upteen years, you miss the rat race a bit in Perth. Weird I know but you do.
Hey don’t get me wrong I would move to WA (not necessarily Perth) any day. My other half likes Sydney (and Melbourne actually) for the shopping. There is so much more here.

Congratulations Waratah fan, you have reached 300 posts.
I’d like to thank my parents, my partner, my agent and all those people out there that voted for me.
I know it’s not really that much of a big deal but:

glad i live in melbourne – how do you sydneysiders do it???The only reason we can afford to live where we live is that we bought our house 7 years ago. It has almost tripled in value so there is no way we could afford this suburb now.
And I have spent a lot of time in VIC, WA and QLD but Sydney is still the best city to live in…just pipping Perth.

Yeah. Rugby Union is the best football code in the world and the Super 12 trophy is going to fly across the Tasman this year!
Ask Muppet what I mean, he will tell you.

Very twee Chan$.
I liked the old one (before Forum Frolic better though. This one looks like it was cut and pasted straight out of a book of sayings. Very boring.
You can do much better Chan$, I know you can.

I just recently bought Norton Internet Security 2004 for under $100. It has a firewall, spam protector and daily updates to a virus protection.
It has been great and I had no idea so many computers were trying to access mine every day (sometimes 20 a day). It gives you a choice what you want it to do with the server who is trying to contact you.
$100 well spent I reckon.

If the Labour Government got in and proceeded to weed out all the useless staff in every government department I would be the first one to say good on them. I agree there is a lot of waste in those areas.
But I cannot see that the unions would allow a Labour Government to shred thousands of public service jobs. I think you would also find the payouts would be equivalent to 2 or 3 years of wages too.
Hey, any government that culls rarely used, useless and overpaid staff is allright with me. I love seeing stories on A Current Affair about public servants being paid $100,000 to sit at a desk playing computer games because they are on a contract….not!

As my wife earns all the money, we have put her at 99.9% ownership on title and me .1% for the negative geared properties. The +ve will be 99.9%in my name so she does not have to pay extra tax on it.

I find it intersting that this story ‘broke’ this morning but it is towards the bottom of the website’s current news. I wonder if John Howard had said they were going to raise taxes, where the article would be located?
I think that if all that Mark Latham has said he will do is done, then great, but where is all his billions of dollars of funding going to come from?
Oops I just answered it with the link above!

Whoa, hold on a moment. Before you go selling your negative geared properties, have a look at what they have become. If you have achieved good capital gains out of them and you can afford to keep them – YOU MIGHT NOT HAVE TO SELL THEM. You can use the equity in them to purchase +ve cash flow properties.
I am not alone on these forums advocating a mixed portfolio. In fact I would even guess that over half of the serious investors here would say don’t sell them without looking at the bigger picture.
My wife and I have one -ve geared prop, 1 cash flow neutral prop and about to have our first +ve CF prop. Yes +ve CF seems to be all the rage at the moment, but they are becoming harder to find (even in WA).
I am not saying don’t sell them, maybe you can sell 1 or 2 of the underperforming ones, but I think a diverse portfolio is the way to go at the moment.
Good luck
