Well yack, Chan used a few choice words towards me over the last week (which he has apologised for) so I don’t think it’s too harsh…

The point is (made by a friend [wink]) that it’s good to ask questions and look for proof… too many people blindly accept whatever they’re told as being fact… why do we think people who bought OTP at Docklands have been caught short? Why did Henry Kaye and others like him have so much success? I’m not calling people liars, just pleading that people maintain a healthy scepticism about anything they’re told or have heard (even with the media [wink])

    Cheers

    yack,

just because people don’t subscribe doesn’t automatically mean they’re newbies. I buy it myself from time to time, but keep forgetting to subscribe…

    Hi,

Is there any professional package available with your lender that will give you an interest rate discount?

Also, it depends on what the “best” property actually is for you… it could be high yielding, it could have a lot of cg potential, it could be by the beach, in the CBD or a country town/city etc etc… basically, I try to buy places that are tenantable to as wide a range of people as possible, that way your chance of vacancy is reduced drastically. If it’s a property that you want to live in later, that’s fine for some, but the type of place I like to live in doesn’t necessarily have renter appeal… horses for courses

That’s crap Chan, some of the most successful property investors I know are more than forthcoming with tips and hints, both on this board, and others like it…

It wouldn’t be hard to come on here under a pseudonym, claim I have dozens of properties and stacks of money, then when some beginner asks me for some advice I just say “oops, no can’t tell, it’s a secret”. (PS disclaimer – I am not having a crack at SIS in the preceding sentence, it’s just a generalisation, since SIS does offer some of his knowledge in some of his posts…)[cigar]

But Kay, the story would be short, because so much of it revolves around “secrets”.

    1. approx $1.28 mill
    2. approx 600+k
    3. 6 houses, 1 unit
    4. Mix of + and – gearing… oh wait, that’s offset gearing… now if I could just work out this domino stuff.

    Celivia,

Sorry I might not have been clear… I’ve never doubted SIS’s intelligence etc… there’s a very big difference between being sceptical and outright not believing someone or calling him a liar, which I am definitely not doing… I’m just not sure that’s all… as you said yourself “it’s almost unbelievable” If he has done it, it’s an amazing effort and well worth a lot of praise.

Anyway, back to the original question… has anyone else been able to achieve what SIS has done (or even come close)? I know I haven’t…

    cheers

So SIS, what you’re saying is, that in a bit over 12 months or even less, you’ve gone to a net worth of 700k? (70% LVR on portfolio of $2.1 million?) How do you do this as a student working part time as the maintenance guy in a night club (or something along those lines?)… Is it just through off set gearing and your domino theory?

    SIS,

In the past you’ve said you’ve got a partner in your investing… is this still the case? How big is the portfolio at the moment?

    Pisces,

I’ve been away for 4 days so apologies for coming in late here… but in a reply to scott, were you linking 9/11 to Saddam? If so, how/why? I know the US administration has made the link in the past, then recanted, then made it again…

If I’ve misread your post, please disregard.

Also, what has Bush achieved in the past 12 months? Does leading the mightiest army on earth to victory over a rag tag opposition really count as a huge achievement? Did Iraq really pose such a huge threat to the US and other allies? Why did the war turn from being all about WMD’s in the beginning, to the deliverance of “freedom” in the end, once absolutely no evidence of WMD’s was found? There’s really too much to go into here isn’t there? But if you could address my initial question, that would be great.

    Hmmm, Pisces… so I hijacked your thread…

That would be the thread where you blamed the media for being stupid and irresponsible? To which I, as a member of the media, tried to add some arguments against your original assertion? Er, um, how does posting comments that are relevant to the original post constitute hijacking?

Last time I checked, this was a forum… a forum being a place where alternative views are discussed, not just disparaged. Just because someone’s views, be they on the media, George W Bush or the Palestinian question are different from yours, doesn’t mean they are wrong…

    Pisces,

Is that the best you’ve got?

Explain to me how a media mogul hiring four hookers is news… if he raped four women it’s news, but if he’s done something entirely legal, how is it news? It’s well known in Canberra that federal pollies use hookers regularly, but it’s not against the law.

As for your case in terms of the defamed eye clinic… if the journo stuffed up, then they should get in trouble, I can’t be any clearer than that. Humans make mistakes, I just don’t agree with your view that “THE MEDIA” are all out to cover stories and take angles for the wrong reasons.

Anyway, I don’t expect that you’ve even bothered to read my responses in the locked topic… If you did than I’m surprised that you seemingly can’t agree that I’m not one eyed in my argument about this…

    Hi ghotib

Good point.. by and large we know our audience well I think… but like I said we don’t have control on how everyone interprets things… and we don’t try and scare people, we just report things that come up…

    cheers
