Yes it is illegal and you will be banned if they find out you are using it for direct marketing purposes. Not sure how they will find out though, but I wouldn't do it anyway. The other site is pricefinder.com.au
Nice gesture Richard, feel free to contact me for any info about the Perth market if something catches your eye!
Yeh this is a risky habit to get into. I would recommend a buyers agent in the state you are looking to buy in and the fees are also tax dedictible if its for an investment property. They can also give you some hints and tips which you may not know because you are not a local. For example in my surburb houses on one side of a main road are worth up to $50k more.
For capital growth i look for older properties on bigger blocks (It's the land which increases more in value).
I normally look for a 2 bedroom as a minimum, in perth there a currently on over supply of one bedders and therefore they are harder to sell. Defenitely look for a unit or townhouse which has an allocated car space especially if its located in inner city as this could be a deal breaker for renters/buyers.
Good luck with your property search =]
Not sure about the restumping, but theres going to be a new power station being built in collie (subsequently new workers looking to buy houses) and the new perth to bunbury highway can only be a good thing for house prices. What area of collie are you looking to invest, I can give you some information if you like.
