Hi Giddo
I too sold my V8 Torana but not for a house but to continue travelling. It took me 5 years to build. I did all the work in the driveway of my parents place. And yes they still love me!! I think…lol. Cost me $17k in parts alone and sold it for $9.5k. If only I knew then what I know now. But this was a few years ago now. Cant seem to find how/if I can post a picture. Anyway mine was light blue and black.

Hi Marisa
Yes it is a small world. Same salesman I had.
I have just been told that lock up stage on my IP is in 3 weeks. They are in plastering walls this week. They poured the slab in May so that makes it around 4 months(give or take)to lock up stage. Pretty quick in my opinion but still have a way to go before finishing.

Hi Dazzling
I know what you are going through although I only work away 50% of the time. It can be really hard on yourself being away from those you love and vise versa. It is so easy to fall into the trap of the job…Good money and time off but it is also hard on my better half with me being away for 6 months a year. Have no children yet but can only imagine missing out on the little things like seeing them walk for the first time, their first word etc.
This is the main reason I have given myself a time limit of 2-5 years and will pull the plug on the job and try full time investing.
Sounds like you have made a decision in your heart but just need a little push to get going.
Hope it all works out for you.

Have a look at most new estates. Titles are generally 6-9 months away. If there is heaps of demand for area your 1k will grow nicely.

Hi
We are also a one car family. Its a 1989 Hyundai Exel 130k on the clock and paid $2000 for it. [^]
Goes great and only costs 30 bucks a month on fuel which is a bonus considering the price of fuel these days! [angry2]

So if you buy/build an IP and have never owned a house before this are you still able to obtain the FHOG?
What about if you buy 5 IP’s then a PPOR could you then claim the FHOG?

Hi Marisa
I am building with Celebration Homes. It has taken just over 2 months for the slab, walls, electrics and roof frame to be done. Still looking at another 3 months for completion.
A friend of mine who builds quite a few houses with different builders says that Celebration Homes are the quickest builders he has used.
Usually about 6-8 months.Regards

Rick keep up the good work and maybe one day soon you can kick the last 3 days a week.
Dr.X good on you! Sometimes you just got to trust you gut instincts and go for it. Nothing ventured nothing gained.
Well done!

There are 4 women working on the rig I am on at present. One is a mud doctor (tests the mud used in drilling) and the other three run tests once the hole is drilled. Not sure of degrees they have to obtain the job.

Hi Chris
My duties are to assist the Dogman with lifts using a crane and wire slings. Lifts vary from small items up to 20 Tonne lifts.I also help out on the Helicopter Landing Crew, and fire fighting support crew. In slow times you can be scrubbing the decks. Basically you get to do all the fun jobs no one else wants to do..lol But you do get 3 weeks off to do what ever you want to do. You work 12 hours a day 7 days a week for 3 weeks. There is also maintenance roustabouts that do all the painting etc. Casual rates are about $7200 clear per 3 weeks

I work as a Roustabout on an oil rig in NW WA. I work 3 weeks on and 3 weeks off. I earn about 84k for this with all meals, accomodation, flights, laundry etc but pay varies between companies. You must have completed a HUET course (helicopter underwater escape training) before you even get a look in. Now is a good time to apply as a lot of rigs are coming down to OZ because of the price of oil. The rig i’m on has work until end of 2006.
