Once you get a Section 32-Vendor Statement, the vendors details should be on it. In which case you would have the vendor’s details and could contact them directly. Maybe say you’ve been talking to the Agent and your not sure he’s passed on what you’ve said, and is it true they want to go to auction?
I wish I googled “National Builders Group” last year because it would have saved me a lot of heartache.
Our sales rep was great… courteous, helpful etc. but later on I learned that she was telling me one thing and telling the builder something else. I agree with the earlier sentiment- they’ll say anything to hook you in and get your deposit, and after that they don’t care at all.
The builder we got is just a bully whose been trying from day 1 to impose on us his conditions. He’s been dishonest and unprofessional. They all have been. The NBG tell you that is there’s a problem you could get in touch and they will help out- not in my case. and the gall of the managing director on this very website to say that they do care and to get in touch with him… if that’s so why hasn’t he responded to a formal written complaint I sent him directly over 3 months ago. The response I got?- nothing.
We approached the NBG with a full set of plans and said here quote us. There was no problem with how long it took, why should there be we supplied ALL the plans, all they had to do was look at it and give us a quote. Now that it’s time to build what do you think they said? Oh no, no, no… what the NBG quoted you was their plans and specs. What on earth do they mean? the plans were there they looked at them and now the builder is saying that such and such is not included.
Look, I don’t begrudge the builder his profit. I want him to make money out of this. He’s supposed to build me the house I’m paying for and I want to pay him for the work he does. BUT I expect him to be honest. I don’t expect to be bullied and lied to, and ignored… all AFTER signing the contract with them.
The contract was signed in August 2006. I organized the building permit by Sep 2006. The builder wouldn’t even come out to our site to meet with us. Finally the said yes in December 2006, but that quickly turned to Mid Jan of 2007. It’s now March 2007, and the only thing on our block is a few marking pegs.
At every turn the builder tries to raise a variation. It has been a nightmare from the start. I urge anyone who reads this to think twice and hard before going with the National Builders Group. WHY would you? Sure there are a few good messages about them, but why take the chance? Building a home is a big deal and one of the most stressful things you could do. If there’s a chance that the NBG will cause you all this pain – AS THEY HAVE CAUSED ME – why take it. You think you save money by choosing them, but you don’t. You really don’t. I can’t say one good thing about them.
