Nearly everyone classed me in with owner builders when I was trying to get finance to build specs. The only bank we had any luck with was the NAB. That was back in 2004 and we still enjoy a great relationship with them,…[Read more]

Chris,Let me know your email so I can add you to the list.Even if there isn't a meeting when you are down, let me know a week or 2 in advance and we can catch up for dinner or a drink. We did this recently when Anita from Melbourne came down to check her latest development. I emailed everyone on the list and a few of us caught up with her for…[Read more]

PeteJackie replied to the topic Is Tassie that bad? in the forum Help Needed! 17 years, 1 month ago
Hi Tuggerwaugh,Sandy Bay is blue chip so you should always get steady growth there and due to the uni you should never have problens getting it rented. I used to have a 1 bedroom unit in Battery Point and found the best time to rent it out was in January when all the students were looking for accommodation.Kingston & Kingston Beach are going crazy…[Read more]

Good point v8ghia.I think Tassie gets left off the map in a lot of things. A lot of reports you see on TV rarely include Tassie.RPData still don't have Tassie postcodes. Tuggerwaugh, I don't think you will go too far wrong investing in Tassie. I'm doing nearly all my investing here and I'm quite confident that the market's going to hold up quite…[Read more]

Hi Guys,I live in Hobart now, however George Town is my home town,I have never seen the town so divided as they are now over the pulp mill. I know the RE Agents in the town are flat out at the moment with all the interstate enquiry.Cheers,Pete

Hi Chris,Send me a PM with your email and I will add you to the list.I think Tassie is pretty good shape. You mightn't get the capital growth that you get in some other areas, however the yields can be quite good. Cheers,Pete

Hi Rachel,Some months ago a couple of us got together and organised a get together in Hobart. We managed to get Melbourne based Mortgage Broker Rolf Schaefer down as guest speaker. It was a huge sucess, we had about 25 people there.I actually talked to a couple of the others today about organising the next get together for Thursday 22nd November.…[Read more]

I've been looking at doing similar, near a uni, however any property managers I have talked to don't seem too keen on the idea.Understandably it's more work for them. Has anyone struck a similar problem with property managers and renting per room?Cheers,Pete
PeteJackie replied to the topic Rendering over fake brick cladding? in the forum Value Adding 17 years, 5 months ago
We had fake brick cladding removed by a professional asbestos contractor. Underneath were beautifully preserved weatherboards. It's a house built in the 1920s and we are renovating with the intention of putting it back on the market once finished. The finished product should look fantastic.Cheers,Pete

Hi Loanwolf,Is it a 2 year working holiday visa you have?I'm not sure if it is still the same as it was when I was over there in the early 90s. You used to be able to apply for an extension on your visa if you had had a substantial amount of time out of the UK. For example I worked as a tour guide in Europe for Top Deck Travel and had 15 months…[Read more]
