– Spending time with my wife and 3 kids (#4 arrives tomorrow [biggrin] )
– Go Karting – I also have a business, and I race… ( raced in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei & UK ) This is another of my BIG passions

– Reading books
– Watching Movies
– Checking out my pub….. ( well, I have a share in it….. )

We all have different opinions about what constitutes a high priced seminar….
As mentioned many many times now….
It’s all about MINDSET, and, ACTING on the knowledge gained….
Even a $200 seminar is “high priced” / worthless if I do not act on what I learnt in the seminar…..
Yes, it’s sorting out the wood from the trees…. There are some dodgy people out there, BUT, there are many who do provide good learnings….
You have to remember in the investment world, there really aren’t any secrets……. it’s more about not having to search for it…. because someone else has already, and, whether or not you want to pay them to save your time….
Another point…. The costs of putting on a seminar IS expensive….. there is the Room, Catering, Audio Visual, etc, etc…. is DOES cost a fair bit….. you’d be surprised…. You also have to factor in that the person does want to earn something for putting on a seminar….
Anyway, this has been argued to death already in this and other threads……
Attend if you want to, but….. DO YOUR HOMEWORK……

In general many commercial buildings in Malaysia are in a state of disrepair. Maintenance is rarely done….
If it is a close friend then, you will be better off, but, if you are serious about this, then, a visit to Malaysia ( I’m assuming KL ? ) is a MUST, to see for yourself….

Yorker… all I would say is :
DON’T DO IT…….
If you are not Malay, then you are at a disadvantage ALWAYS in Malaysia….
Quality of buildings is NOT good at all, They don’t even know what maintenance means at all……
It’s just not worth the risk……

Well, Some people here just don’t get it…. they criticise people for doing well, then if those people show any chaitable tendancies, oh.. it must because they think it’s trendy now…..
Charity is something that comes from the heart…. You doing it willingly…

High Priced Seminar – Depends on what some people call High Priced ???
Some are worth, yes, and quite a few are not….. ALL are NO USE, if you DO NOTHING…..
If you do any study on the very wealthy, you will find one thing… it is who they want to be, as they go along the way…… Look at Ted Turner…. did he have to give away his massive wealth… no way…. but he chose to…..
Oh No… I’m becoming filthy rich [ohno]… Never mind, it’s ok, I can afford a shower…. [angel][biggrin]

Agree with your comments about getting stuck on the “how much really goes to…” comment…..
BUT, as Geo mentioned, my intent is to ensure that the maximum amount goes to the people who really need it…..
There are many charities out there, who through sponsorships / donations, made themselves self sufficient as far as costs go…….
My spin on this issue is to make sure My dollars help as much as they can….. not just 70%…..
At the end of the day, the fact that it seems we are all giving, to whoever it may be, is fantastic, and, as a “group” we are truely making a difference….
Now only if we could have convinced George & Johnny Dubya not to spend all those billions on Contolling Middle east oil…… OOOPS I mean er… Freeing the Iraqis……
Just think what COULD have been achieved with all that money wasted on a few peoples grudges…..
World hunger could have been close to solved…… but nope….. that would make too much sense…… [angry2]

Thanks….. I know it’s a topic that is discussed at length, and, your right…. I should have faith……
Being able to wake up each morning knowing that I am helping others with our actions is quite rewarding…..
RE Investing has not been about millions in the bank to me…. It’s been about the freedom to do better, for myself of course, but for others as well….

How much of your $1.00 actually makes it to the child ( Worldvision ) ??? I had heard a few things about that before, but would like to help……..
I’d like to contribute to childrens causes……

Pelican is assisting financially with a family who has a son who is a quadriplegic. His medical bills are huge, and the family struggles….
He is getting some movement back in his arms, and, with the help of highly concentrated (enriched ??) oxygen there is some hope in his life….. $3000 was needed for the equipment, so, we paid for it…..
Next year, we plan to also look for a charity to support for the year.. I guess the thing that is hardest, is, which one makes the biggest difference ? The Salvos ?? Child Welfare ??
Property has made the pelican’s a lot better off. BUT, we have always wanted to help others…. now we are in a better position to do so, and really make a difference…..

Sorry mate, re-read my post…. Wasn’t trying to ” have a go” was just trying to bring a different perspective….. didn’t read the way I wanted it to…..
The issue is Mindset, and, as we go along in life, changing it for the better…. GIVING more……..
We certainly cant take it with us !!! [biggrin]
Well, for some people, when they have more wealth, they look at ways to help others…..
As I said several times, it’s all about MINDSET
Personally the more wealth I have, the better off I am to help others in the real world……

I ask you this……
If I was able to make say 200,000 per year, which you feel is bad, but I’m then in a position to help others… then, I’m still wrong ????? hmmm ????
One thing you will see as you go along, if you have the mindset, is…… When you become wealthy, you start to spread it around to others who need it more…..
In other words…. if I’m scraping by on 50k per year, my charitable donations would probably be ZERO…..
When I’m earning more, then, I can ( as we actually do ) start to give to others…..
The wealth Pelican has generated is now going back in some forms to helping people… We financially support a family with a quadriplegic….. LOTS OF BILLS…. and we are helping out…..
So, I must be bad right ???? because I’m earning too much….

Very well put, I think some people do seem to get “addicted” to seminars, without really thinking about what they are doing…..
Just as some people get addicted to one way of investing only……….

true…. they do play on people’s FEAR & GREED…
I always wondered if I held a seminar, I’d actually do up a slide showing all the costs of holding it, plus a small profit for my time…… to show the real costs….. Keep it open so people know what they are paying for……
What do you think ???
30k for a seminar…. yeah… too much…. $5k…. maybe… depends on what was being discussed…..

A several thousand dollar seminar / course can be a pinch of salt, IF, you have the ability to act on the education you receive…….
I bought a study pack which cost me $3000. Gee thats expensive……. guess what…… So far with ACTION, and, a few life skills thrown in, my partner and I have made over $700,000…. ALL because of that $3000 pack…..
Don’t seem so expensive now does it ????
It’s about ACTION….. MINDSET….. If you can’t do something about the BOTH of these, then, nice knowing you, but you wont get anywhere……..
DO YOUR HOMEWORK, Talk to people, Learn as much as you can, go to a seminar…… BUT MOST OF ALL,

After a while reading books from RK, and people like Robert G Allen, it gets tiring of all the talk about what can be done in the USA property market….
So much of it is not relevant to Australia…..
I’m now trying to focus on local property authors…… I still look to the US guys for how they were inspired etc, but thats about it…..
The statement about being offended about low ball offers kinda stinks…… arrogance if you ask me…… He like to do deals, but doesn;t like them being done to him…….. FUNNY……….
