Thanks for all your comments guys, I really appreciate it.
Steve, I will check out the site and the options mentioned.
Mannie, thanks for the reality check! Because we don’t have a credit card, we do save. In fact if we want anything at all we save for it. We have to!! And that includes overseas holidays etc. Its all done via saving and then paying/playing. I guess we have to now decide whether saving for an investment property takes priority over the next holiday or “whatever”.
Again, thanks to all for your feedback. This forum is awesome for its ability to give creative and practical advice without judgement.
Thanks for the thought Sooshie, however, we previously owned a home back in 1991. Unfortunately due to a downturn in our business we were forced to sell. So, no cigar on that option I think.
Gerard, Also try the words “Henry Kaye” in the search function. I’d be a little hesitant for the fact that he has been investigated by ASIC as you will see from the posts you will get up from your search.
A good property manager on the Gold Coast is Murray Boynton at Romanza Property. His mobile number is 0404 051 975. He gives great service at very competitive prices.
Willie, there is an article in today’s Fin Review (page 57) which goes further in regard to Henry Kaye’s alleged breaches under the Trade Practices Act. He is apparently facing “civil charges” in the Melbourne Fed Court as well. Worth getting a copy of that article too!!

I believe you may be able to do a business name search on the ASIC website http://www.asic.gov.au or check with your state’s Building Services Association or Office of Fair Trading to see if they have any legal stuff pending on their name. The only trouble is that its so easy for these guys to crash and then set up again under a new name you can not be sure they havent just done that very thing. Id be more likely to get names and addresses of houses he has built recently or even as much as 12 months ago. Visit the sites and speak to the owners and see what they reckon. Especially if its say 12 months on, any problems will more than likely have developed by then.

Wow Savanna, thanks for the great post. Hubby said he thought it would cost “an arm and a leg” to set up, but you have just kiboshed that. Will definately look at the links you suggested also. Thanks again, Cheers
AD, Hearty congrats, what fantastic news. Enjoy the proceeds and keep us informed on your new project too. When reading the forum, I always particularly enjoy your posts/replies. Every success in your new project. Just a question, what suburb was your last reno/sale in?
Cheers,
