and, Is having 2 defaults as bad as bankruptcy in terms of getting a loan?

I appreciate that this will be the start of your empire, but even so, my advice would be to go ahead and buy this property in your own name. If the opportunity is there now, take it.

I fail to see how a single person with no dependants could not survive on a full time wage, regardless of whether they work in a city or not.

I can see how it might be a more comfortable lifestyle though, living with one’s parents.
